our Attention Is Being Stolen Every Day (By Choice)

Your Attention Is Being Stolen Every Day (By Choice) | The Black Coffee Club™

Distractions, notifications, digital overload, weak boundaries, and reactive habits quietly steal attention every single day. Focus, peace, productivity, and intentional living all suffer when your attention constantly belongs to distractions instead of priorities.

In this episode of The Black Coffee Club™, JuniorTheTruth™ continues The Simple Truth MinuteManual™ Week with a direct conversation about attention, focus leaks, digital overload, and why so many people feel mentally fragmented in 2026.

Most people don’t realize their attention is constantly being consumed.

Notifications.
Apps.
Scrolling.
Interruptions.
Noise.
Reaction-based living.

And over time…

That constant distraction weakens:

focus
clarity
peace
execution
emotional energy
presence

This conversation explores:

attention theft
focus fragmentation
weak boundaries
digital overload
intentional focus
awareness
reactive living
protecting mental space

Because here’s the truth:

Your attention is shaping your life every single day.

Junior also discusses how The Simple Truth MinuteManual™ System helped create stronger awareness, intentional scheduling, focus protection, and better attention management in everyday life.

We’ll discuss:
✔ Why distraction feels normal now
✔ The hidden cost of interruptions
✔ How weak boundaries create focus leaks
✔ Why attention affects quality of life
✔ How to reclaim your focus intentionally
✔ Why awareness changes behavior

If you’ve been feeling mentally scattered, overloaded, distracted, or disconnected…

This conversation is for you.

Honestly, you're losing control of your life, one distraction at a time, one notification, one app messages, scrolling, noise, interruptions. You know, as soon as we came in off the top, my brother AB came in testifying. He said, yeah, I choose to pick up my phone and scroll too much, or take long breaks more often than actually sitting still to brainstorm and ultimately think you feel me. He came in testifying. He came in. Ab came in and said, excuse me, let me testify. He came in testifying, you're losing control of your life one distraction at a time. Man. But this is the kicker. Do you realize that everybody wants your attention now, even me? Everybody wants your attention now, and you're giving it away freely. That's the dangerous part, that you make a conscientious decision to freely give your attention away. King Vonnie said, attention or intention? Attention right now? Attention attention right now, But eventually we'll move into intention for sure, for sure. Salute to everybody catching the live stream. Shout out to the replay gang, replay Gang and full effect. You feel me, I need to come in, I need to put a coffee cup getting poured. That'd be my thing. Give my theme emoji. Everybody wants your attention now and you're giving it away freely. That's the dangerous part, because your attention is not small. Do you understand? So when I come in here and I tell you, I. Really, truly, genuinely appreciate you being here and taking the time to tune in and giving me your attention. So how dare I not appreciate that? And how dare I not ultimately give you the best that I got. Rather it's two of you here, or if it's two thousand of you here you feel me, or if it's twenty thousand of you here, no matter how many of you are here the sound of my voice, it is on me to give you the absolute best that I got because your attention is just that important to me. This is an exchange. So how dare I not come in here and bring you absolute value from the bottom of my heart? You understand what I'm saying. Your attention is not a small thing. Your attention literally shapes your life, and I guarant goddamn to you that you've never looked at it that way. Your attention shapes your life, Noe of the great. I'm so glad you here because I think that's a bar your attention. Like literally, it's simple, short, straight to the point. Your attention shapes your life. Your life is shaped by the shit you pay attention to. Huh, your life is shaped by the shit you pay attention to. What you consistently focus on eventually shapes your habits, It shapes your emotions, It shapes your productivity, It shapes your peace, It shapes your relationships. And this is the r it shapes your future. What you consistently focus on eventually shapes your future. And right now, most people are mentally overloaded. Because most people I did it again. Your ass is mentally overloaded because your attention is constantly being pulled in different directions. Then you wonder why you feel exhausted. Even when you haven't done any hardcore meaningful uh uh uh you know bountyful work. Yeah, here's the truth. Your attention is being stolen every day by choice, by choice, meaning you are making a conscientious decision to have your attention stolen. You understand what I'm saying. You ever got? You know I'm from the air. You know I'm from the box Chevy air. You know I'm from the music in you. I'm from the. Music in your in your vehicle. You feel me. The boxes and the amps and the and the subwoofers and tweeters and all that shit. You ever had your system stolen out your car? We call it bump one from your hair, your bump stolen out your car. Anybody ever ever broke into your ever broke into your car, stole your bump. I had a box Chevy, and somebody broke the lock on my trunk to steal the box, to steal a box out my box Chevy. You feel me to steal the speaker box out my box Chevy. And it wasn't even no speaker in that motherfucker When I tell y'all was hotter than fish grease, and motherfucker literally punctured my trunk, punched the lock, got in my trunk, and my damn trunk. There was no music in my trunk. There was no fifteens, no twelves, no punch six hundred amp, no nothing in my trunk. Kid said, hell, yeah, you feel me. I got my radio stolen out out my car, right, I got my radio. Now, this's sang Chevy. The radio got stolen out of it. I got the radio stolen out in front of my daughter's mom house in her street, busy as hell. I go in there and I was in there twenty minutes. I come outside, my radio gone. I had left the I had left the I'm doing something with this, y'all. I had left the door unlocked. I had left the detachable face on the radio. You feel me. And it was in there. It wasn't. It wasn't in there. Good. I had to cut and get it put in there, but it wasn't really in there. Good, wasn't secured. I hadn't mounted it in or nothing. Yeah. Kids said they stole the gorillas out the zoom m m m m. Yeah. I came outside and I said, damn, my ship got stolen. And I realized it was by choice. I made the conscientious decision to get my shit stolen. You feel me. I left the doors unlocked, I left the detachable face on the radio. You understand what I'm saying. I left the detachable face on the radio, made a counschy inter's decision to get my shit stolen. That's the same thing that we do with our attention. Your attention is being stolen every day by choice. And that's the conversation this morning. Like I ain't I really came to take it like a orston pie is called like a banana cream or lemon moraine pie. I came to get to this pie. Win't gonna we don't throw sweet potato pies, but I came to get this whipped cream pie and whip it up real good, whip it real hard, and I'm gonna rub it in your face because your attention is being stolen every day by choice. And that's the conversation I want to have because eventually you have to stop blaming distractions. You gotta stop blaming the distractions, and you gotta start asking yourself, why in the fuck do I keep giving them access to me? Let's get it. One so. I'm hustled harder than the moment. I'm a feast on these streets. Got a revolver I told for these niggas trying to take me off the block where I points up daily sit, Dailey's out the. Bottles, smoke, Yep, yep. Man, Let's god get to it. Let's start here. Distraction has become normal. Distraction has become normal. Did you hear that distraction has become normal? People don't even notice it anymore. Do you realize that you don't even notice that you're distracted every day. The mere fact that you have your phone in your hand all day really insists and community Kate's the distraction and the fact that we've normalized distraction, checking notifications, constantly switching apps every few minutes, watching something while doing something else, Like you got something on while doing something else, scrolling through conversations. I picked up my phone yesterday to do something, to share a video and then sharing that video to social media, or I was sharing it via text messaging. But I picked up my phone literally seven times I picked up my phone, and every time I picked up my phone with the clear goal to get this video shared, I ended up doing something else. Seven times. A notification came, it vibrated, something happened, a job came, a message came from a customer, and it literally took me about twenty minutes to do something that it should have took me twenty seconds to do. Man, I cuss myself out yesterday. Something awful. I cussed myself out, some awful. Scrolling, doing conversations, thinking, thinking, and Andre, We're we're supposed to be resting, and we fixated on the day at work. Excuse me thinking there's always noise, always stimulation, there's always interruptions, and eventually your brain adapts to that environment. And now stillness becomes uncomfortable. Your ass will have a hard time sitting still stillness, it feels uncomfortable. Deep focused, like really having deep focus is difficult. Silence feels strange. That's dangerous. When the when you get to the point where silence feels strange, that's dangerous because us whatever gets normalized eventually becomes your lifestyle. And many people are living inside of not many people. You are now living inside constant mental fragmentation, constantly excuse me, constant mental fragmentation. Everything's broken, all up and fragmented. And it's not because you're incapable, but you've trained, you've trained yourself to constantly divide your attention and that creates focus leaks everywhere. You feel me Now, nothing gets your full attention anymore, not your work, not your family, not your peace, not even yourself. Nothing gets your full attention anymore. Nothing nothing. Yeah, And so when we talk about the hidden costs of distraction, you feel me the actual hitting the costs of distraction. Every interruption takes something from you. Every time you get interrupted, it takes something from you, your attention, your energy, your clarity, your momentum. Yesterday, it was clarity for me. Every time I was trying, I clearly knew what I needed to do. And every time those seven times I picked up my phone, I lost my clarity, I lost my momentum, I lost my attention, I even lost energy. In The crazy part is most interruptions they feel small in the moment when you get interrupted. It feels small in the moment you feel me, doesn't feel big, doesn't feel major. It just feels small. A quick notification, quick scroll, quick response, quick distraction. But over time, the small interruptions slowly destroy your deep focus and your ability to have deep focus because every interruption forces your brain to restart, and restart already takes energy. That's why people feel mentally tired. Your brain never fully settles into anything. You're always switching, always reacting, always scanning. And honestly, you don't have an energy problem, man, you don't have an energy problem. You have an attention management problem. That's important because unmanaged attention creates unmanaged living. Unmanaged attention creates unmanaged living. I think I like I domn there about I was damn there about to push the button and call it one. Like, did you hear what I said? You have an attention management problem, and that's important to understand because unmanaged attention creates unmanaged living. Now, how motherfuckers be all over the place, be all into this, all into that, all over here, all over there. Unmanaged atension creates unmanaged living. And now your priority is getting neglected, your schedule gets reactive, your peace disappears, and your mind stays noisy all day. You feel me unmanaged. The tension creates unmanaged living. Oh, I got a the that's a amen, say man I, Oh whiskey, salute the boxing and barbecue in the building. What's up with you? Bro? Salute to you for our snipe said, that's some high level awareness though, the fact you kept up, well, how many times? Ittil oh? Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I kept up. There was seven. It was seven of them. It was seven of them. The kids said, say it again. I said, you don't have an attention Excuse me, you don't have an energy problem. You have an attention management problem. We can't manage our attention appropriately, and that's important because unmanaged attention creates unmanaged living. All you gotta do is look around, and we crazy enough to live in this space where we have generations of people that we can to, generations of people that we love, and we can look and we see unmanaged living, unmanaged attention. We're in a generation now where your attention is unmanaged. You feel me. That's how motherfucker can get on Facebook and be on Facebook all day, unmanaged attention. You understand what I'm saying on social media? You know what gets your attention? Whatever the fuck you look at, that's what gets your attention. Unmanaged. And you know how I know it's unmanaged because you go and you just scroll. You don't go with Facebook with intention for your attention. You don't go to social media with intention for your attention. You go and you scroll, and you see what catches your eye. Yeah, yeah, kids said, my attention ain't worth a damn. That's why I have my notifications off and I stay away from TikTok. My attention ain't worth a damn. Man, I moved. My attention ain't worth for damn. It's unmanaged and unmanaged attention creates unmanaged living. You feel me, and your mind stays noisy all day. Now, let's go deeper, stupid, because distractions only become powerful when boundaries are weak. Here, Yeah, that's the truth. Your distractions are only, excuse me, only become powerful when your boundaries are week. So you gotta turn them notifications off. You gotta put your phone in the bag and put it all off somewhere. And that's the truth. A lot of people say I can't focus, but honestly, sometimes your focus ain't the issue. Access is the issue. Everything has access to you. Everybody can interrupt you. Every notification reaches you absolutely immediately, in real time. You feel me in real time. Salute the coach sixty seven Sports TV. What's up with you? He said? At work and I'm locked in. Yeah, the kids ain't there. The kids ain't there running around slapping people acting damn food. You feel me, Dirt Game boss said, can't even cap this week. I've been paying. Attention to all the bullshit. Yeah, I'm telling you, man, be I'm talking. My attention ain't worth shit. I look up and I done sat here and I didn't watched Foe, Adrian Bruner and Dean the Great videos and I did. I look around and I get mad, like, why fuck? I got this sassy ass shit on my phone. You feel me like I refuse to even talk about ab because that's my that's my guy, first of all, and I don't like seeing him in the space he in but ultimately he ain't boxing, so I'm not fit to talk about You feel me like I don't want to talk about the bullshit. But then I realized, like, man, why the hell is this? Why am I looking at this stupid shit? Yeah, everything has access to you. Everybody can interrupt you. Every notification reaches you immediately, Every distraction gets entertained instantly, and eventually, your attention belongs to the outside world, and it belongs to the outside war world more than it belongs to you. That's dangerous. Your attention, eventually. If you're not careful, will belong to the outside world more than it belongs to you, and your focus cannot survive unlimited access. You feel me, But I just I really just some it won't this won't leave me alone. Your attention belongs to the outside world more than it belongs to you. Your attention belongs to the outside world more than it belongs to you, and that's dangerous because, like I told you, your attention shapes your life, you feel me. Your attention shapes your life. And now we're in this space where your attention belongs more to the outside world then it belongs to you. But your attention shapes your life. Do y'all understand what the what the fuck I'm saying? Do you understand what I'm saying? Your attention belongs more to the outside world than it belongs to you, But your attention shapes your life. Your attention shapes your life, but it belongs to the outside world more than it belongs to you. If you're not careful, you understand what I'm saying. And then we sit here and we wonder why I'm about to smack this hell out of my microphone. Then we wonder why everybody out of pocket. We wonder why everything out of pocket. We wonder why the culture fucked up. We wonder why everything is so out of pocket. Because your attention belongs more to the outside world then it belongs to you. But your attention shapes your life. What you pay attention to shapes your life. What you constantly focus on shapes your habits, your emotions, your productivity, your peace, your relationships, and ultimately your future. Your attention shapes your life. But we have reached a space where your attention belongs more to the outside world then it belongs to you. Then it's a cold game. Yeah, that's dangerous, like that shit is dangerous. While you know why these kids is the way that they are because of as parents, we have cultivated this environment where their attention belongs more to the outside world than it belongs to them. Some of y'all can't even talk to your kids without your and have your kids look up from their. Telephone to look at you. They don't even look. They don't even break eye contact with their phone to look at you. Their focus belongs more to the outside world than it belongs to you. But their attention is shaped. Their attention shapes their life. Your focus cannot survive unlimited access, man, it can't. Your attention requires protection. That means boundaries, That means intentional schedules, excuse me. That means of reduced modifications like Ki has said. That means protected focused windows. That means the awareness of distractions and the fact that you're distracted. And how many times, like I said seven, I had seven yesterday in one instant, and that was in a that was like a like I said, that was like a twenty minute window seven distractions, literally, And that's why the system becomes important in my own life, you feel me. That's why the system has become important in my own life, not because it magically removes distractions, but because my system it helps me become more intentional about protecting my attention. And like I said yesterday, in that timeframe that I had those distractions, it's not about perfection their gang. It's not about perfection. It's about intention. It'snip. It's not about perfection. It's about moving intentionally. You feel me. It's about intention yeah, yeah, and that it helps me with my own life. It helped me become more intentional about protecting my attention. And for me, that changed everything, because once you start protecting attention, then you start protecting your life differently, you feel me. It used to be a time where you would just see me everywhere. I would be here, I would be there, doing this, doing that. You don't see that no more. You understand what I'm saying. You said you see me out and about. You see me in the same spots. You feel me, I be moving around this world. Don't do it, can't do it. All right. This is the part people miss. Attention affects your quality of life, period, point blank. It's really the end of the discussion, and really ain't nothing even to talk about. Attention affects your quality of life, not just your productivity, the quality of your life because where your attention goes, your emotional energy follows, your mental state follows, your habit follows, your relationship follows. That's why distracted living creates disconnected living. A distracted living creates disconnected living. You stop being fully present, you stop thinking deeply, you stop listening carefully. You understand what I'm saying. Motherfuckers have an inability to listen anymore. You feel me. Think about it. Think about something you've told somebody recently. You know you told them recently, saluted Thomas Few in a building. What's up with you? Broke? You know you told them right, and y'all had a whole conversation. And then you come back and revisit the conversation and they look at you like it's the first time they didn't heard the information. Tell me, I'm lying. You've had a conversation. Talk to somebody about something you feel me, You come back to revisit the conversation, and when you speak to them, it's says if this is the first time they've heard the information, if you've experienced that, give me give me my theme emoji. You understand what I'm saying, and I know it's happened to me, and I know it's I've been on both ends of it. You understand what I'm saying. I'm like, you know, I'm mother fucker. Will talk to me and tell me something, and then tell me something I said, and I know I said it because that's how I talk. And I'm like, damn, I don't remember that conversation, and vice versa. I've said something and then come back to rev is the conversation. Motherfucker's clutching their prayerls looking at me like what you talking about? And I'm like, motherfucker, we just had this whole conversation about hey man, distracted living is responsible for all that we have normalized distracted living. You feel me, we stop experiencing moments fully. You understand what I'm saying. Motherfuckers be at events and it be like epic events, and it's shit that normally we be sitting there. Like, oh yeah, but now. What do you see? You see motherfuckers with their phones. Cuz if you don't get the fuck can we enjoy the moment? Fuck that phone. Mofucker's on vacation, all right, everybody, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on. Everybody get here, Everybody get there. It's the motherfuckers that literally go on vacation just to take pictures to post to social media, to pretend that they are doing something that they are not. You are not having fun, you are not enjoying yourself, you are not enjoying your family, you. Are not caught up in your faith. Man. Let me get the fuck off this damn line. We stop experiencing life fully, man, everything becomes fragmented. And that's why intentional living requires intentional attention. And honestly, the realization that realization changed me. It changed me. I started asking what actually deserves my attention, not what demands it, what deserves it? Like, what deserves my attention? And I realized I have been giving my attention to a lot of shit, a lot of people, people, a lot of places, a lot of things that absolutely did not deserve my attention. I'm taught a fucking lutely did not deserve my attention. Yeah, and that question alone created awareness, and awareness changes behavior because once you realize your attention is valuable, you understand how valuable your attention is, you stop giving that shit away carelessly. I wish I would get that shit away carelessly. You feel me, just like when you really understand how valuable your body is. You feel me like women are like sisters, like y'all just be cool for a second. Men, like if you really realize how valuable your attention is, like how valuable your body is, how valuable everything, or you stop giving it away carelessly, stop giving it away carelessly. When you realize how valuable your mind is, you stop giving away space in your mind. You protect that shit man. In a real way, when you realize how valuable your attention is. Because I told you your attention shapes your life. Your life is shaped by your attention, and we've entered into this space where your attention belongs more to the outside world than it does yourself. To the outside world is shaping your life. Man, All right, let's get practical. Let me get out of here. This is where I'm this will salute the thrive and glow with Joe, what's up with you? Joe? This is where I'm about to start cutting the water off. Mm hmm, I'm gonna give it to you quickly. Though. We can go in depth in a different in a different capacity, we go deeper in different capacity. Let's get practical real quick though. If you want better focus, you need stronger attention protection. If you want better focus, you need stronger attention protection. Simple things, not dramatic. Simple. Let me say this simple, It's not easy. It's simple. Simple does not equal easy. Simple equals simple. Easy equals easy, But it's simple. Number one is you got to reduce access. You got a silence, unnecessary notifications, shout out the another of the great. You got to move distractions away. You have to protect your mental space. Two, you got to create focus windows, short protected blocks where your attention belongs to one thing only. You understand what I'm saying. That is a pinnacle piece of the puzzle for the Simple Truth minute manual system. That is one of the gospels that you will find in the book. Throughout the book, throughout the throughout the planner, you will find the importance of focused blocks, periods where your attention can belong to one thing and one thing only. You feel me, You can go get your system www dot do Minimanyo dot com. That's www dot di Minimayo dot com. I don't even like I'm we're gonna lead that up there? You feel me, le We'll just lead that up there. So number number one was reduced access. Number two is create focused windows. Number three is become aware of your leaks. Awareness is everything. Awareness is everything, Awareness is power. Awareness creates choice. Become aware of your leaks, what keeps interrupting you, what keeps pulling your attention away, and you have to track those things, honestly. Number four is protect presence in conversations, in work, in rest, practice being fully where you are. One of the things that I do in my personal practice is personal practices is if I go and I start talking to you, got your phone in your hand, I stop talking. I absolutely refuse to talk to you while you got your phone in your hand. Have to have your undivided attention. And depending on who you are, I'll tell you, hey, man, I need you to put your phone down for a second, depending on the nature of our relationship, have absolutely no problem saying I need your undivided attention on this one. Practice being fully aware, all right, Man, we like twenty minutes fifteen minutes over. So I gotta go. I gotta close this out because this conversation matters more than people realize. Your attention is shaping your life every single day. Your attention is shaping your life every single day. I'm not coming off of that. Your attention is shaping your life every single day. And if your attention constantly belongs to distractions, eventually your life starts feeling fragmented too. There is absolutely no way that it won't. Yeah, so here's the question, what keeps stealing your attention because you keep allowing the access? Think about that. Honestly, around here, we don't just protect productivity, man, We're here to protect our attention and we're here to ultimately to get better man every day. Brick by brick by brick, Salute to you all. Thank you all so much for taking the time to tuny and man really truly genuinely appreciate you.
