And also if you're not careful when you listen to people, people are literally having their lives run by their respective triggers. I think, y'all that get quiet on me if I kick y'all in, if I kick y'all a cratchy' allready, don't tell me you want to know people running around here run by your triggers. Don't don't. I don't care nothing about your triggers, man. Period, point blank. And today we're continuing a habit. Conversation, but we gonna go deeper because, of course, habits don't just come from routines. They come from emotions. You understand what I'm saying. And if you ever said to yourself, why do I keep ending up here? Why do I keep reacting the same way? Why does this keep happening to me? The answer is usually simple, but it's uncomfortable. Don't nobody they want to hear it? You living on autopilot. Your ass is living on hollow pilot. I'm trying to tighten up my all. I'm trying to tighten up all this cussin. You are living on autopilot. Today's episode is called Triggers, Patterns and Reactions, Taking your life off Autopilot. But this is about learning how emotions quietly press play on behaviors you didn't conscientiously or excuse me, you didn't consciously choose, right, your emotions these triggers, y'all keep talking about you feel me, Your emotions quietly press play on behaviors that you didn't consciously choose. Yeah, your emotions which are tied specifically to your triggers, and they say do it. Do it. That's what they say. Go go. And keeping in line like in step with the month of January. The first UH installment of the Self Mastery Blueprint, which is intentional awareness. I'm here to tell you and we're gonna talk about how awareness gives you the remote control back. Awareness is gonna give you the remote control back at the end of the day. All I'm trying to say to you is, man to hell with your trigger Let's. Do it. One. I'm hustled harder than the most. I'm a feast on these streets, gatory bulver I took for these niggas trying to take me off the block with our points up daily Si Bailey's out the bottle. Family. No, let me say this. If you didn't catch yesterday's episode on Tuesday, which was where we talked about yesterday where we really broke down habits, I really want you to go back and catch that epid so that you're not totally lost. You understand what I'm saying, so that you're not totally lost. We really broke down habits to a science, and we offered some news you could use it with relate with regard to your habits. We'll talk more about it at the end of the week, because I was about to I was about to jump back in. But we'll talk more at the end of the week when we kind of do an overview of everything that we cover. So all right, man, so let's start at the beginning. Let's start at the beginning. Let's start at the beginning with your habits, and we talk about habits, habits being kind of a you know, more or less with regard to you being on autopilot. Right, So we're gonna start at the beginning. Every habit has a trigger. Trigger, trigger, trigger, trigger, trigger, trigger. Every habit has a trigger. Not the behavior, not the mistake, the trigger. The trigger. Triggers are the art. Signal triggers are the start. Signal triggers are the beginning. Triggers are the alpha. Triggers are the absolute start of everything with regard to your habits as well as your life being on autopilot, It starts with the triggers, do it. It's a feeling, a thought, a place, a person, a time of day, a smell, a time of year, a phrase. So many people are triggered by so many things. You understand what I'm saying, And in twenty twenty six, people have become increasingly easily triggered, like it's crazy. You understand what I'm saying. It's crazy. You could be talking to somebody and you can just say a phrase and the motherfucker will say, oh, that just triggered me. Excuse me, And I'm thinking. Are you crazy? Like what is? Are you nuts? Oh? That triggered? That just triggered me. My ex husband used to say that to me. That triggers me. Oh man, my ex gal used to say that to me. Man, that's a trigger. Man. Don't say that. Don't huh, don't say that, uh uh, don't do that. Stop being run by your triggers. But anyway, triggers are the start signal, right, and your triggers I at least say go. They quietly say go. And many of the strongest triggers that people have are not external. They're emotional. They're emotional. Think about how you have been triggered to do dumb shit in your life, like let's just have a real conversation, or maybe I'm gonna talk to myself. I think about how I've been triggered to do a lot of dumb shit in my life, and what was what. Was my trigger? My triggers were internal cause I'm one of them. I'm one of them. Man, you know what I'm saying, I'm I'm I'm really truly, I'm really truly my own savior and my own worst enemy. Like I told you all, I am sold out on being the main character in my story. Like you think I'm crazy. I am the superhero and the villain in my story. I am Batman and the Joker. You feel me in my story, I am I am Spider Man and the Green Goblin at the same down time in my story. I am the superhero and the villain in my story. Yeah. So some of the strongest triggers that I've dealt with, and what I deal with is internal because I ain't gonna play with you. You know. Some people call it arrogant, Some people call it you know, some people call it pompous. You know, whatever the case may be. Man, I am a person. You ain't bad enough to trigger me. I don't give that kind of power to people. Motherfucker. Ain't bad enough to trigger me outside of you. Doing something to harm one of my loved ones, like you know you fuck on my woman or my children, you know what I'm saying, or you know. Somebody that I love deeply. You know, it is people that. I'll go to whole yard for, you know, in my life, if you ain't bothering one of them or cause it harm no one of them, or you not being you know. Bluntly disrespectful. And it's really only a few words in the English language that you can say to me that will trigger me, and that's the truth, or some certain things that you can do to be disrespectful to trigger me. Outside of that, you ain't bad enough to trigger me. You ain't bad enough to trigger me, not to the point of acting out, Not to the point of acting out. My strongest triggers are internal. Watch this, y'all, A B. I'm glad you here. What's up with you? Broke? AB? I feel like some of this is for you, youngin salute to my young brother AB man in the building. AB. Some of the strongest triggers are emotional. I'm gonna give you a few boredom. Boredom won't bored. Them trigger you to do some dumb shit. A big head won't bored them trigger you to do some dumb shit. Anxiety won't anxiety trigger you to be absolutely outside yourself? Frustration won't frustration trigger you to do some goofy shit? What about loneliness? Salutor Thomas, If you singing in the building, what's up with you? Bro? What about loneliness? Won't loneliness sniper? Won't loneliness trigger you to do some bullshit? Hay, big head? What you're doing? Miss you? What's up? Stranger? You feel me? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah. Won't that? Won't that? I don't know, you know, I don't know what y'all use. You know what I'm saying. I don't know what y'all use them. I Hey day, I used to use that. What's up, strange folks? What's up strange folks? Yeah? Oh, I used to say. I send a text message and say what I do? Yeah? What I do? Girl? That what I do? Girl? That's that gone? Get them to feel I shoot that what I do? Girl? Ooh, that's that gone? Get them Get on. Get on back over here, girl, get your ass a line. Yeah, loneliness will trigger you to do some dumb shit. Rejection is another trigger. The feeling of rejection will trigger you to do some bullshit. The strongest triggers are internal. You feel me for our sniper says you up, Yes it's a rat. You feel me if she say yeah, or I just lay down or I just woke up, Yes it's a rat for our sniper said he's gonna jump on that bike. And he on the way. I'm on the way. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Man. I'm telling you, the strongest triggers are internal. And when those show up, When those triggers show up, especially the ones I mentioned, the strong ones, your your brain goes looking for relief. And your brain goes looking for a relief fast. Like I'm trying to help you dissect this autopilot. So the triggers come, the strong triggers come. The internal triggers come boredom, anxiety, frustration, loneliness, rejection, to name a few, and when those show up, your brain automatically starts looking for relief fast. Most habits aren't about what you're doing. They are about what you are trying to feel. Less of. Or more of. You feel me. Most habits aren't about what you're trying, excuse me, what you're doing. They're about what you're trying to feel rather it's more of something or less of something. You might want to write that one down, or you might want to mark the video twenty two you would call it twenty one minutes in that I just said. Most habits aren't about what you are actually doing. They're about what you're trying to feel, whether you're trying to feel more of something or less of something. You feel me while you're trying to make. Me feel good in my holly Berry voice, Monsta's ball, make me feel good. They're not about what you're doing. They're about what you're trying to feel. You pall that drink because you're trying to feel something. You send that text because you're trying to feel something. You roll that butt because you're trying to feel something. Habits aren't about what you're doing. They're about what you're trying to feel. And that is a response to your brain, which is responding to the trigger. I'm gonna take y'all little ass to school. So here's the problem. If you don't feel your emotions, you act them out. Does that make sense? If you don't feel your emotions, then you act them out. When your emotions aren't noticed, then they become behaviors. Anger becomes arguing you feel me, Anxiety becomes scrolling loneliness becomes settling. Let me stop for a second, because I think that went over y'all's heads. I think I might have went over some people's heads. Excuse me. The problem is if you don't feel your emotions, you act them out. You understand, and when emotions aren't noticed, they become behaviors. Right, those of us that had a mama that's in tuned, right, have your mama ever looked at you. And say what's wrong with you? And you didn't even know nothing was wrong? Have you ever had a loved one just say hey, man, what's wrong with you and you ain't even know? And you say, I don't know nothing, And then after they say it, you kind of realized that something is wrong because they were able to have the read on you. They had to drop on you. They understood, and they noticed your emotions. If you don't notice your emotions, they become behaviors anger. If it's not notice, it becomes arguing, Anxiety becomes scrolling, Loneliness becomes settling, stress becomes overeating or avoidance. Period. One of the simplest, most powerful practices that I use and that I've seen done too, is once it again, pause and name the emotion before behavior. If you catch yourself feeling something, you got a pause and name the emotion, and you name the emotion before the behavior. So an example, I feel tense, I feel rejected, I feel overwhelmed. So by you taking a moment to actually name the emotion that you're feeling before you embark on the behavior or before you embark on the act, that alone disrupts the autopilot. Because today we're talking about coming up off autopilot and taking control of the wheel. Earlier we talked about taking the remote control back. You feel me stopping and actually naming the emotion before the actual behavior interrupts autopilot. Now, awareness, as we all know, and we continue to say, it doesn't fix the It doesn't fix the emotion. The awareness doesn't fix it. However, it gives you a choice. Once you're aware, you have the absolute control and you have the opportunity to choose how you gonna act. You understand what I'm saying. So if I stop and name the emotion, If somebody says something to me and I feel something and I stop and I say, okay, that makes me angry, Now I've taken back the power as opposed to somebody saying something to me, and then I just pile haul off and go right in their mouth. You feel me if I take the time and pause and actually name the be name the feeling before the behavior, now I have control. So okay, they said that that piss me off. So now I have a choice. I can choose the pile go in the mouth, or I can say, you know what, you got a big dog and remove myself from the situation to avoid escalation. Man, y'all quiet as hell in here? Y'all quiet as hell in here? I hope I'm giving you some news you can use in my legendary top cast voice saluting my cousin top Cats. Awareness doesn't fix the emotion, but it gives you the choice. You take back. You're taking back control bit by bit. You're no longer on autopilot. You're no longer on autopilot. They don't get the wreck off you being on autopilot. Man, we got some work to do. They don't get the wreck off you being on autopilot. So we're gonna talk. Let's talk about stress real quick. Let's talk about stress, because the fact is it's stress is gasoline for bad habits. You feel me. It's gasoline for bad habits. When stress hits, your. Nervous system shifts shifts into survival mode. You understand what I'm saying. When stress hits, your nervous system automatically shifts into survival mode. And in survival mode, your brain wants. Comfort, It wants relief, it wants distraction, it wants an escape. It don't not long term health, not discipline, not values. You understand what I'm saying. Your brain wants comfort, distraction, relief, escape. It does not want long term health, It don't want discipline, and it don't want values. When we're talking about survival mode, and survival mode is brought on by stress. So we have very common habits of stress. Food, the way we handle and interact with food, scrolling. Substances, arguing with people for crast, natan or you might just shut the hell down, just shutting down all together. Those are very very common habits that are attached to stress. And a lot of our bad habits are just stress coping mechanisms. It's just stress coping patterns that once worked. Actually that they worked once and they helped you survive something prior in your life, and then they got they just got repeated and became automatic. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah. Tiffy two said, that's right. Just make the ship stop. Just make That's what your brain does. Your brain just wants to ship to stop. When you're in survival mode, just stop, stop whatever it is, stop stop stop. I'm a person. I'll be having a conversation and the conversation will be stressing me the fuck out, and I'll just stop, Like I'll be in a me a conversation and I will just If it becomes too stressful, survival mode kicks in. And I just wanted to stop, and I say, you know what, you got it, motherfucker could be dead wrong. If the conversation is more stressed than it's. Worth, I'm gonna stop. Survival mode kicks in. I just want relief. Whatever I gotta do to make this motherfucker here stop talking to me. I'm willing to do it. Stop stop, which is very dangerous. That becomes dangerous. This is a whole different conversation, but that becomes dangerous as well because you hear these conversations where people just snap the fuck out. You understand what I'm saying. A motherfucker could be you know, Oh, he just snapped out and murdered his girlfriend, or she snapped out murdered her husband, or motherfucker went to work and out up everybody at work. You feel me, Whatever we got to do to make this situation stop, that's that's how your brain will be wired. Those are extreme circumstances, but you can a person that's really been living this life, you can understand how that can become. Some of you are are two minutes away from punching somebody in the face at your job right now. Today might be that day. If this motherfuckers say anything to me, I'm going in their mouth. I'm gonna pop this motherfucker right in his eye. Some of y'all are like that. Some of y'all are one conversation away from jumping on a family member, from jumping on the love one. Some of y'all are one a moment away from choking your kids. The situation has just become stressful, and your brain wants relief, and a lot of bad habits, bad habits are stressed. They're only they're just merely stressed. Coping patterns that once worked, Like they worked once then they helped you survive something earlier in your life, and after that they got repeated until they just become automatic. Automatic had one of them tough means, you know, my dumb ass. You know, I work from home, primarily my own My home office is my office is the home office. So I have stuff that go on and I'm like, hey, man, come out of a mean or you know, come out of a conversation or a phone call, and I'm like, man, I got to pour up after this shit, like this shit's stressful, or I got a whole bunch of deadlines. I ain't crunched, I'm missing saluting my brother, Drew Titan. What's up with you, hommy? Man? We gotta get we gotta get out. We're about to go over, Drew Titan, you coming up live. We're about to get out of here. A lot of our bad habits are just stress coping mechanisms, just patterns that we employed to cope with stress. Don't lead that out, Do not lead that out. And at one point in time, you use them and they worked. You feel me. You use them and they worked, and you just began to repeat them as a means to cope with stress. Yeah, we're talking about mastering ourselves, man, we're talking about self mastery. You feel me? Why the hell you get up every day and don't want to master yourself? So all right, and this is where because we're talking about autopilot and coming off with autopilot, and this is where the patterns come in. Right, patterns are the full script that are running your day. You understand what I'm saying. They're a full script that are running your day. Think about your day, and your day is merely a sequence of patterns, trigger feeling, story behavior, short term reward, trigger feeling, story behavior, short term reward. Yeah. And when I say story, because I kind of I threw that in there, right, because it's trigger feeling, story behavior. Well, before we take the story out, it's trigger feeling behavior, short term reward. I threw the story in there because the story is the stuff that we tell ourselves. We tell ourselves stuff like I deserve this. It doesn't matter anyway, I'll deal with it later. This is just how I am. It's only a little bit. I don't do it all the time. So on and so forth, like old school, instantly, what's up with your hommy? This is the story is the story that you tell yourself this week? I've challenged you, but I really want you to stick to that. I want you to take notice of one pattern pattern this week, just one. Whenever I feel X, I do Y. Whenever I feel this, I do that. I want you to try to notice one pattern this week, and ultimately patterns repeat until they're interrupted. Interrupted is us taking back the controller, pulling ourselves off autopilot and taking back the controller. Yeah, taking back the controller. All right. So I gotta give you all a critical distinction. I gotta give you all critical distinction. All right. So we got two things I need to define. We have a reaction and then we have response. Right, we have reaction, we have response. A reaction is fast, automatic, emotional, and it's tied to our old wiring. We react based on how we wired. You understand what I'm saying. A reaction is really truly based on it's fast, automatic, but it's emotional, and it's really tied to our old wiring, meaning something happened in the past which caused me to act this way. A response is slower, it's chosen and aligned with your values. You feel me, and that is why we have to work to be responsive versus being reactive. We're talking about coming off with autopilot. You feel me, The gap between between the trigger and the reaction is where the real self mastery lives. Like, that's where the real self mastery is. And those are things that you can do, Like we talked about naming the behavior, taking the ten second pause, one deep breath, ask the question, what do our actually need right now. In those instances. That's a practical tip when you're trying to move towards responding instead of reacting. You don't need to be perfect. You just need a pause, you feel me. Have you ever said something to somebody or you seen somebody say something to somebody. And they just stop and they take a deep breath, Like. You feel me, You need a pause, take a pause, all right, all right, let me hurry up. Man. I gotta get out of here. I gotta get out of here. So I gotta give the good news. The good news you can use. You don't have to eliminate triggers. Like I told you, stop being run by your triggers, stop being controlled by your triggers. But you don't have to eliminate your triggers. You can keep the same trigger and the same emotional need. You just change the response you feel me, change the response, Joe says. You think that is something I had to learn just to step back before I react. I believe that, Joe, because I look at you, Joe, and I could tell I bet you hit hard. I think you hit hard. I didn't know I would. We didn't turned Joe into a killer. I think you punch hard. I think you punch hard, and I think you still heavy handed. You a whole lot lighter than ass, but I think you heavy handed. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah. You don't have to eliminate your triggers. You can keep the same trigger and the same emotional needs. You just change the response you feel me. So if stress hits, the old response is already scroll, shut down, new response. It's gonna take a walk journal for three minutes, breathe, do a breathing exercise, same trigger, same need for relief, just a different outcome. Self mastery isn't about removing emotion.
