UNSCRIPTED | The Black Coffee Club™

Personal standards, self-mastery, discipline, accountability, intentional living, and self-leadership are the foundation of a meaningful life. Your goals may inspire you, but your standards determine how you actually live.

In this special UNSCRIPTED episode of The Black Coffee Club™, JuniorTheTruth™ explores one of the most important conversations we've had since launching The Simple Truth Network™:

What are personal standards—and why do they matter so much, especially to Generation X?

If you were born between 1965 and 1980, chances are you grew up learning independence, responsibility, and resilience. Many of us were latchkey kids who learned to solve problems, adapt, and take care of ourselves. But survival isn't the same as self-mastery.

This conversation challenges Generation X to move beyond simply getting through life and begin intentionally defining the standards that shape how we live, work, lead, and build our legacy.

In this episode, we'll discuss:

What personal standards really are (and what they are not)
The difference between goals and standards
Why your standards determine your results
How standards create discipline, consistency, and self-respect
Why Generation X is uniquely positioned to lead through example
How personal standards strengthen your work, relationships, integrity, health, and family life
Why raising your standards is the key to reclaiming control of your life

Because here's the truth:

Your life isn't built by your goals. It's built by your standards.

If you're ready to stop living reactively and start leading yourself with greater purpose, this conversation is for you.

You feel me and we you know, we're going through the talking points and so on and so forth today, Man, I really truly just want to talk. You understand what I'm saying. I just want to talk. H My conversation is really it's really geared towards Gen x ers. It's really geared towards Generation X. Man. The the shit I was I was set to talk on, but it's really it's really for everybody. Man. I love I love Generation X. I love Generation X man, I do. I wouldn't rather be a part of any other generation. Man. The only other generation maybe is I don't even know what was the generation before the Baby Boomers? What was the generation before the Baby Boomers? I might want to I might want to be one of them. Let me let me look because I know y'all don't know that off the top of the head. Yeah, what was the generation before the Baby Boomers? That's the that's the Silent generation, which includes the individuals born from nineteen twenty eight to nineteen forty five. You feel me, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah. They grew up doing and the Great Depression in World War two, so you know, they rock solid, you feel me. And preceding them was the Greatest Generation. The Greatest generation was born from nineteen oh one to nineteen twenty seven. You understand, So my grandparents was essentially a part of two generations because my Papaul was born in twenty six, so he was a part of the Greatest Generation. And then my nanny was born in twenty eight, so she would have been a silent generation. You feel me, So maybe I might want to be one of the great the Great generation or silent generation. Man, I'm cool on the baby Boomers. No disrespect to y'all, man, but I'm cool. I'm cool on the baby boomers. Baby boomers didn't get y'all acting peculiar. You feel me, Baby boomers been acting peculiar my whole life. Y'all know I ain't laying man. Y'all know I'm telling the truth. Gen X, Let's just get to it, gen X, y'all know I'm telling the truth. Like your mom and daddy, Neil was cool. You feel me. But you know you resignated better with your grandparents if you generation next. Man, let's just have a real conversation. Taking the muscle off the hot dog. You know you resignated better. First of all, who else is in here is gen X, am I the only gen X are in here. I might be the only gen X in here, but anyway, I'm just gonna I'm just gonna talk my talk. You feel me like like gen X. You know that your parents was cool, like the Baby boomers was cool? Like they cool? You feel me? But you know, yo, your grandparents was it you like? Yeah, your grandparents was it? Like? Like, man, you bet not okay? Cool? Man? Like you gotta fight on your hands. Man, you talk about my mama. Don't be talking about my mama. You feel me like, don't be talking about my mama. But my grandma sheit. You get to talking about my grandmama cuz that's it's there will be blood. You feel me all. I Fin said, he a millennial? You're a millennial? Bro okay. Ther Game said facts. Yeah, nah, bro, you get to you get to you get to rob single to You a millennial too, dang bro, y'all some youngest. Hold on what was the millennials born? Y'all was born in like the nineties. Hold on, man, let me see let me let me see something. Man, let me see something, Let me see something, Let me see it. Let me see because some of y'all. I think my little brother might be a millennial. Oh yeah, the millennials, y'all, eighty one to ninety six, y'all solid. Millennials are solid. Eighty one to ninety six. Man, y'all, y'all, y'all, especially the millennials that was born in the eighties, y'all solid, y'all solid, you feel me. It started gen z is when they kind of started getting a little uh you feel me. Gen z is when they started getting a little uh yeah, yeah, we were smoking chronic and having babies. Do you understand what I'm saying? For people my age that had that had that had a uh they got a gen z we were smoking that chronic man and having babies, you feel me? And and and then you know, for the for the baby boomers that was having babies that was that was generation z he because like I can't even, hey, man, I can't even y'all was through raising kids then you know what I'm saying. For the baby boomers that was having gen jen zs man, like, yeah, bro, y'all started nah because y'all was y'all was y'all was done raising kids. You know what I mean? For baby boomers that was having babies in the nineties. Y'all was done raising kids. Then y'all start having them babies in the nineties, y'all was done raising kids. Man, you was you was having kids for the for their older siblings to raise and ship. You feel me, baby boomers was pecular. They was acting peculiar. But anyway, man, I love I love gen z man, I mean gen x gen z cool. I love being a G generation exert though, right, And like the thing about us is it's like like motherfucker's just be calling it just straight down the middle, right, And so I did enter it into this space in my aide where I'm at in my age, where like I really ain't here for a whole bunch of the bullshit, if I'm gonna tell you the truth, like I really ain't here for a whole bunch of the bullshit. And so like I just be seeing stuff, man, you know what I'm saying, I just really be seeing stuff, and I just call it like I see it, and everybody be looking at me like like like I think everything is a conspiracy theory and everybody's you know, on the gang or whatever the case may be. And it's like, nah, man, I'm a gen exer man, and I've seen enough to know you feel me, Like, I've seen enough to know like everything is, everything is every everybody on the gang, everybody on the gang. Stuff be happening, and I just be looking like, hmm, everybody on the game, bro, everybody on the game. And so I am entered in this space in my age though, where I am finally starting to really get comfortable with myself. You understand what I'm saying. Rob Cidy was born in eighty seven, Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm finally starting to get comfortable in myself, bro, you know what I mean. And I'm finally starting to get in this space where like, like I don't know, I know that I got issues, but I'm cool with my issues. Saluted for El Sniper. I'm really truly cool with I'm starting to be like really cool with my issues, you know what I'm saying. And uh, that's just it, man, you know what I mean. Like, that's just really truly where I'm at with it. Snipe in the building. I think I just said that, salute the snipe in the building. So I want you to grab your coffee, man, And of course like I said today, it's not a conversation. I want to just really facilitate and lead a conversation. I want to just talk, you know what I mean, Because I've been thinking a lot about stuff, Like I've been thinking a whole lot about the movement, you know what I mean, to raise the standard movement. You know where we are with the Black Coffee Club and and everything in the simple Truth period. And I realized once again, like I'll be telling y'all and I'll be charging y'all up, like don't let me just talk, Like don't just let me talk, you know what I mean, Like we gotta ask questions, we gotta probe, you feel me, if the if the live stream is not the place to ask the questions, you need to bring yourself to the network and where we can embark on these conversations. You feel me, But don't just be letting me talk, you know what I mean? And I and I have people who do reach out to me via you know, social media or whatnot and ask certain questions, you know what I mean. One of the questions I got was like, man, what our personal standards? Dog? Like, what are personal standards? And I'm like, man, that's a good damn question, you feel me. I really wish you would ask it like when we in a you know, for everybody, because like the thing about questions is like you might be sitting in your sitting on your on your hands looking at it, like, man, that's a dumb ass question, Brian, You're finna ask that. But I guarantee you there's somebody else that got the same question. You feel me, And so people will just nod and just proceed. And I'm not a nod and proceed person, Like, don't nod and proceed with me. You feel me, like, let's let's talk, you know what I mean. If you don't agree with something, push back, or if you have a different perspective, share your perspective, you know what I mean, share your thoughts like I really be on that or whatever, because that's how we that's how we grow. Because I'm I'm I'm I am literally in my own growth process. I am literally learning as I go, and I'm learning these things and the stuff that I'm sharing with you, all the stuff that I am literally learning in real time. You feel me. So people are asking and I had really a couple of people, one person in particular that I'm thinking of off the top that you know directly ask other people asking directly, but what's personal standards? You feel me, what's personal standards? And I'm like, yeah, that's a fair question because you always hear people talking about like dreams and goals and success and motivation, but very few people ever talk about standards. You feel me like, I guarantee you being in here and us talking about standards every day, this might be the only place that you literally hear standards. You feel me like, what are your standards? People don't ask you what your standards are like, people don't even talk about standards. A lot of people are in this space where they don't even realize or having even realize that standards actually exist. You feel me, standards actually exist, and they have always really truly the concept of standards have always really truly existed, and you've always had standards for yourself. It's just a matter of you know what those standards were and how you you know what I mean, carry those standards out, how you held those standards, or a matter of what those standards were in relationship to what you were trying to accomplish. You feel me, and so when we say standards, and I think that that's a fair question. You got to look at it, man. And once again, the things that we always hear about the dream, success, motivation, never really hear about standards, right. And yet I'm a person that's coming here, and I'm telling you that standards explain for are more about your life than your goals. Ever. Will you understand what I'm saying. You have all the goals, all you have big, big, big goals. I look at your life. I don't see your goals. You feel me, I don't see your goals. Look at your life, and I see your standards, and I believe the standards once again explain far more about your life than your goals. Ever will and I think especially this is true, especially for Generation X. You feel me because, to be honest with you, we grew up differently. We grew up differently. We grew up differently. We grew up in a space where we were not handed participation trophies. You understand what I'm saying. We weren't constantly reassured. And most of us learn to figure our lives, figured out life. We learn to figure out life ourselves like we learned to figure out life, ourselves and because of that, more so than anything, man, because of that, standards matter, you feel me. Standards matter, and they matter. Just maybe they matter more than we realize. Man, Hey, man, let's get it. I'm hustled harder than the moment. I'm a feast on these streets. Got a revolver. I talk for these niggas trying to take me off the block with our points up daily Bailey's out, Yes Lord, yes lord, Hey man, Hey coach sixty seven Sports TV, what's up with you, hommie. I'm looking at it like like once again, man, just as Generation X, like we came up differently, you know, we came up differently, and and I think the standards matter for us a whole lot more than maybe we realized. Felix new As, what's up with your homie? Salute to you? So like when we asked what when we talk about standards? And I'm gonna answer this because somebody just hit me up and literally asked me and I'm there listening, so I want to clear this up. I'm gonna clear this up. What personal standards really are? Right, because this whole movement has become predicated on personal standards like our whole relationship. This, this relationship that we embark on with one another, has become predicated on personal standards, right, and raising our personal standards in order to take control of our lives and live the best life possible, you feel me. So let's clear some up. A goal is not a standard, right. A goal isn't a standard. A goal is something that you hope to accomplish. That's well, that's what a goal is like. Let's strip them down to the simplest of compounds. A goal is something that you hope to accomplish. A standard is how you operate while pursuing it. You see the difference. A goal is something that you hope to accomplish, and a standard is the manner in which you operate while you're pursuing it. So you're pursuing a goal, and the goal is something that you hope to accomplish, but the standard is how you operate while pursuing it. How you operate while pursuing a goal. Hopefully you see the difference. But your standard says, I don't abuse my body, I don't skip workouts, I prepare my meals, you feel me. One is a destination, the other is a lifestyle. The goal is the destination. The standard is the lifestyle. And standards are the lines that you refuse, the cross you feel me, the promise that you the promises that you refuse to break. You feel me, the minimum way that you actually live your life. Salute the sheet heartstat what's up with you? Love one? And it's the minimum way that you live your life. Like not because somebody is watching. It's not because somebody watching, but it's because it's because you decided. You feel me so simple shit like I don't know, I'm walking. I'm walking out my driveway, up my driveway and I see a piece of trash in my neighbor's yard. You feel me like, I walk over in my neighbor's yard, grab the trash, go to my trash can, throw the trash and the trash can You feel me. Never really realize how uncommon that is. But that's like a standard, you know what I'm saying. If you see something out of place, you fix it, keep it moving. It's like a personal standard. Nobody's watching. There's no accolade, there's no trophy, there's no nothing. That's one of my personal standards, from walking to that I just shared this the other day. If I'm walking to the door and I'm walking and you know, there's a woman walking and we like, you know, close in step or whatever, I'm gonna put something on my step. I'm gonna put some pep in my step to get to the door to open the door. For that's my you feel me, That's how I operate. Yeah, so oh, the standard is the minimum way that you live your you'll live your life. And it's not because people are watching, but because you decided this is who I am. You decided this is who I am. And that's why I keep saying, goals will inspire you, but standards govern you. You understand what I'm saying, Standards governing you. What's up with it? Realm solute to yummy? Yeah, and so that's it. Man, like you gotta literally looking looking and understand the difference. And once again for baby boomers or not baby boomers, I'm sorry for gen X the man, it's different. For us, standards are different. And as we get older, like this, shit matters more and it matters more, and it's it's it's different. You understand what I'm saying. It's so different. Let me talk about us. Let me talk about Let me talk. Let me talk something about gen X. Like I said, I might be the only gen X are in here. I think I think Coach sixty seven Sports TV might be gen X. But I think other than that, I might be the only gen xer here. It's cool you no no, no, no, no, no no no, it's a dirt game. I think is gen X two? Right, So anyway, let me talk. Let me talk something about gen X. King Vonney said, the mission is the goal. Standards are how you execute the goal? Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, okay, walk him down. Ram said, Okay, he eighty two years younger than me. So we we gen X right, So look bro, for us, for Generation X, this conversation hits us differently. You know what I'm saying, Like we grew up learning independence, like off the top, you know what I'm saying. We came home to empty houses. We had to make our own food, you know what I mean. Like, and I'm talking early, I'm talking I'm talking seven eight, some of us six five, Like we coming home to empty houses, were making our own food. A lot of us we had to solve a lot of our own problems. We had to figure things out, and we became self reliant. You understand what I'm saying. We became self reliant. But here's the challenge. Here's the challenge. Being independent doesn't automatic, doesn't automatically make you intentional. You understand some of us, some of us survived but never actually defined how we wanted to live. You feel me like we we survived, but we never really defined how we wanted to live. And we became good at reacting as shit, not always good at leading ourselves, you feel me. And now we in our forties and fifties, some of us are approaching sixty, and we raising children, don't raise kids. We leading teams, We building businesses. You feel me. Were caring for our age and pearents. And this is the season where our standards matter the most because somebody is watching us now, not just listening, but they watching. And our children don't inherit our speeches. You feel me. They inherit our standards, Our children inherit our standards, and so this shit matters, like this, what standards, it matters. You understand what I'm saying. Walk up down, said man. He said, latch key kid on my soul had that house keyboy, tied around that shoe string around your neck. Well, you bet I lose that key, man, you rather wait? Please? You rather face death. Didn't lose that key? Yeah? Yeah. And so like the standards, situate the standards, it matters now. And then the thing that we see now, especially in our generation, is you understand the importance of standards, but you also understand people that actually got it, and then people that don't. You feel me. So the people that actually got the standards or figures started to figure out standards as we were, you know, growing up, and I'm talking specifically the generation X. It's different from people who didn't. You understand what I'm saying. And that's just it. And the fact of the matter is when you don't establish personal standards, right, because there are people who just don't you know what I mean. A lot of us, we know, and some of us in here might have never established our personal standards. So here's what happens when you don't establish personal standards. You understand what I'm saying. Here's what happens when you don't establish personal standards. When you don't establish personal standards, life becomes reactive. You feel me, and like you work on things when you feel like it. You rest when you shouldn't, You say yes when you should say no. You break promises, you ignore boundaries, you accept disrespect, you stay too long, you leave too early. You feel me. Everything becomes emotional, and eventually you start wondering why your life feels so chaotic, and it's because nothing ain't shit governing it. You understand what I'm saying, and your standards are your internal leadership. Without them, every circumstance gets a vote, every emotion gets a vote, every distraction gets a vote. That's exhausting in the motherfucker man. Standards simplify your life, you feel me, and they remove negotiation, and they answer the question before this situation arrives, period point blank. You understand what I'm saying. Walking down, Raalm said, it's frustrating as fuck to see the standards aren't universal. You feel me. It's crazy as hell. Saluta Queen said, anyone I got to commit to call you yesterday, I'm gonna holler at you, she said nineteen sixty five. In nineteen eighty on My Soul, she heartstat the baby said, she harts that. The baby said. Rode the city bus back home at seven and everything. Latch key for real, for real, for real, girl, You ain't no latch key kid, Get out of here. You was born in nineteen ninety nine. You donna stop playing with me. You might have you was raised by you, was raised by gen xer. I bet anyway, listen to me, So, like you gotta think about it now, right, So like because rem just said it, like you'd be frustrating as fuck to see that universe. That standards aren't universal, right, So for me, like I got like certain standards. It's just real real things, like like I'm not a reactive person. You understand what I'm saying, per se Like, I'm not a I'm not a I'm not an overly like emotional person. Well let me let me, let me, let me let me rephrase that. I am overly emotional, but I'm not a I don't know, I'm not a volatile my My emotions aren't volatile. You understand what I'm saying. You said, she you said raise you was raised by a baby boomer. So yo, okay, she said she it all take that, uh, raised by baby boomer. So your big mama was a baby boomer. Yeah, that's about what I figured about what I figured. Yeah, so I'm looking at this ship like like bruh, Like it's just things that I don't do because of my standards, man, and because I'm a gin excerpt. Like like we had fistfights. You feel me like we literally had fist fights, Like we really had fist fights. Like, no, we really got punched in the face. You feel me like we really had fist fights. And some days you had multiple fist fights like it was on some you know how they put them up, put them up, Like, nah, we really had fist fights. We really had fist fights. Like we really, uh played outside all day. We really had to employ diplomacy like we were diplomatic. You understand what I'm saying. So I'm not reactive salute to a speaker in the building, nah, brother, And that's a fact, Like I'm I'm in my real life like I'm responsive. I'm not reactionary at all. You know what I'm saying. I'm not. I don't. I don't do the whole emotional reaction, nah man, Like we literally big Dad said, he said, my granny from the Silent generation did not play nothing, but did not play about nothing but sweetis apple pop My grandmama was. I was just talking about that bro. My nanny and they were split. My nanny was the My nanny was the silent generation on pop Paul was the great generation. But they two years apart. You feel me. He was born in twenty six, she was born twenty eight. But like we literally had like like I just don't. It's things that I don't do so like to Braham's point, as an as an adult, right and as a man as a forty late fort late forties, I'm in my late forties, forty eight year old man, right, like I'm not like when I see people my age doing things, I'm like, damn. You feel me at this age to not be to not have a certain set of standards. It's ridiculous. You feel me like to to be my age and to not understand not to argue in public. You feel me to understand not to get on social media and act this way, to understand that there is no such thing as the social media like beef, there's no such thing as social media beef. Like we grew up in the eighties, seventies and eighties, like you feel me, it was bloodshed beef used to like for me, it's no beef. When there's no when there's no bloodshed, that's not beef. You feel me. There's no such thing as internet beef. Like you don't like me, you don't like what I say or whatever. That cast may be okay, cool, and I don't really and I'm as crazy as hell, But like, I don't understand, and it's just tough. It's just me being a gen xer. I don't understand bringing yourself to harm yourself over social media. I don't understand getting into a space where you argue and go back and forth on social media. You feel me. I don't understand how somebody can say something to you on social media and it ruins your whole entire day. Like I don't. I don't get that, like that stuff like I don't, that don't compute to me, you feel me. It don't compute to me to get on the internet and to cue up my microphone and to yell at another man on the other side of the planet. You feel me, And and our past is never gonna cross it doesn't. It never compute to me, Like that never makes sense to me. You understand what I'm saying. I just I have the ability to unplug, like I'm a gen exert. I have the ability to unplug, like and I'm like I'm really like I'm really gen X, right, And so one of the things like we do is like like like we can we have the ability to sit here and talk to you and then at the end of the day, like we can kill you off in our brain. I have a lack of better terms, but like we can, we can kill you off in our brain, like literally, like you no longer exist. You understand what I'm saying, Like if you violate certain terms with me, you no longer exist. Right, So like when I see you, no, don't come over here with the fake shit, don't come talking to me, don't come trying to slap my paw. Nah, Like I don't fuck with you. You don't fuck with me. It ain't war, it ain't beef. You stay over there, I stay over here, right. But I'm stupid with it, right because like if we got a problem and we're no longer and I then kill you off in my brain, right, So I didne killed everybody off that mess with you, So I don't have it in between stuff, So like I got cousins that I don't speak to because they cool with people that I don't. I done killed off in my brain. Felix neon Ned said, forever prom gen x, Yes, forever, forever ever, forever ever ever, bro forever always and forever. Yeah, like people be and y'all be bullying me, trying to bully me about like the boxing conversation and stuff like you know why, I I'm really cool with just writing articles and managing the website and I don't I don't have to interview boxers and I don't have to talk about boxing every day. This is the honest to god truth. I don't like the new boxers like. I don't like them. You feel me. Out of all of the new boxers, out of all of the active new boxers and world champions and shit, I might like, I might like. I might literally like ten boxers out of the thousands of motherfuckers that are hundreds of motherfuckers that box, I probably like ten. I probably like ten boxers literally, yeah, like I nah, man, I literally don't like them. So it's easy for me to It's easy. It's easy. Like I just I'm just wired that way. Bro, I'm a gen exerpt and so like and i'm and I'm to the point now where I'm I'm, I'm I'm not Like a person with no standards is just so unattractive to me, you feel me, And I don't mean like attractive, like from a romantic standpoint, I'm like, I mean like attractive, like there's no attraction for me to be around you, Like I don't want to be around you, like what ah, man, get out of here, you feel me like, and I be alarmed by shit like I be alarmed by like people with a lack of standards, like it's crazy to me, man, I ain't gonna lie to you, yeah, yeah, yeah nah. Forgiveness but see, this is it, though, this is it, though speak I forgive a whole lot of shit, like I forgive a whole lot of people, like I've had to you feel me, and I've had to forgive myself. But forgiveness is literally for me, not for them, because I can forgive you and still not fuck with you. And that's like me, I'm a gen xer man, like I'm really, I'm really a gen xer like and so like I really live with these standards though, man, because at the end of the day, when you don't you just be all over the place, and it's exhausting, you know what I'm saying. You know how exhausting it is to get on to like log in and see a fifty year old man on the internet yelling about some bullshit, or how about this, how about these old men that's like literally beefing like it be old men beefing like we in the era now where the comedians be beefing with each other, like how is the funny man? How's the funny man got problems with each other? Comedians beefing? Are you serious? Comedians beefing? R and B singers beefing like we in this era where everybody is at odds with each other, and it's weird to me, and everybody's at odds with the wrong people. Nobody's at odds with the people that we should be at odds with. You feel me like you can't even eat You can't eat lettuce right now because they everybody, because they've turned the world into a big ass pot luck, Like the world is a big ass pot luck. And if you and if you, if you eat lettuce, you gonna you gonna, you gonna, you gonna, You're gonna get the Hershey squirts. You feel me, he said, this church, you're gonna get the Hershey squirts because of the because of the the psycho pality paralysis, the psycho for for our paralysis virus. You feel me. If you eat some lettuce, if you eat a salad, you gonna poop yo. You're gonna mess your breeches. You understand what I'm saying. Like they've turned the world into a big ass uh a porta potty like every like they're gonna force you into be nasty, like we ain't, motherfucker, don't be nasty, but they just gonna force you to be nasty. You eat some salad, you're gonna be You're gonna They saying you're gonna have explosive diarrhea. You understand I'm talking about explosive. You're gonna have violent diaryhea, Like have you had because have you had the explosive Have you had diarrhea? The explosive variety of diarrhea? They got wildfires in Canada and the smoke is blowing down to the US, and now you can't like, man, I'm just a gen exer, so like shit be not be making sense to me, and I understand who I understand, who's really who's really doing harm to me? Like I just I'm just a person who happens to understand that. You feel me so in that essence, like I don't have time to argue with nobody else, I'm not. I don't have time to be for nobody. I don't have no problem. I don't have time to have with somebody that's in the same situation as me. You feel me like I don't. I don't have time to be trying to I'm not one of them people that's trying to get over or I'm trying to keep you from it, or I'm trying to you feel me, I'm trying to impede upon somebody else's success. No, ain't no way. I understand the rising high tide rises all ships. But I also understand the power of people coming together and seeing through the foolishness. You understand what I'm saying. It's why I don't do the politics stuff. I don't talk politics. I don't do the politics thing. You understand what I'm saying because it's a it's a that's a that's a fool's proposition. And I listen to people literally I watch families get severed, my family, you know what I mean, in particular, get severed, get ostracized, get you know, people get ostracized. You know, people thought I was a damn zip, damn fool because I don't blindly vote for Democrats. And I'm challenging my family members, like, are y'all listening to the Democratic policies? Do y'all listen to what they say? How can you go blindly vote for anybody? Like you understand what I'm saying. So anyway, identity politics is the order of the day, and identity politics has to be one of the one of the one of the stupidest things that you can engage in. I digress there. I'm gonna stop talking about politics before I get my channel flagged again. But I'm telling you that at the end of the day, like what this comes down to is that we are in a space in the world where we need personal standards. Everybody needs personal standards. You feel me, and you need to be able to look at people and you need to be able to understand what their standards are, and then you need to group with those like minded people and support one another. The whole premise for this the whole premise for this movement. You feel me. We talk about self mastery. So we're here to do the best that we can with what we have left with life, right, because you know a lot of us feel as if like I know. For me, I'm not like I. It's so I have I have. My life has been out of control, right, And it's so easy for life to get out of control, meaning you don't have control of your life, And it's so easy to get there. It's so easy to get there, you feel you feel me, especially when you when you either have no standards, or you have distanced yourself and accepted lower standards and don't or are not living up to your standards. It's easy. It's so easy, and so here it is. We say, hey, man, you gotta pour into yourself first. You understand you're gonna have to be comfortable being the main character in your own store. You know that's something my shot from the rooftops. Like you have a story, you have to be comfortable being the main character in your story. It's not about your mama, it's not about your daddy, it ain't about it ain't about Trump, it ain't about Joe Biden. It ain't about none of that. You understand what I'm saying. It ain't about Adolf Hitler, It ain't about none of that. Your story is about you. You feel me, and you have to be comfortable being the main character in your story. So if you are the main character in your story, don't you want to equip yourself with the absolute most as many tools that you can in order to be successful. You understand what I'm saying. You want to equip yourself for life's journey. You want to equip yourself to be able to get the most of what you can out of life. We haven't done that, and nor do you go places where somebody's gonna tell you. Ay man, bro, you gotta write down. You gotta look at yourself first. You gotta start with you every day. You gotta start with you before you get distracted, before you get off on a tangent, before you get off on any of these rabbit holes that are going to distract you. You gotta start with pointing to yourself. You gotta meditate, you gotta move your body, you gotta eat well. You gotta what are you trying to accomplish on the day? What's the goal? What's the move, and those are things that we don't do. Instead, we get up every day and the world is is jocking for your attention. The world can't wait to distract you from the time you wake up to the time you go to bed, and it's and it's crazy, it's crazy. And so I think that you know what I mean. Ultimately, what we have to do is we have to get into these spaces and move into these spaces where we can be around you know, like minded people. But also you gotta think, because I'm gonna tell you the truth. We in some shit twenty twenty six and beyond we and some shit, and you are gonna have to think your way through. You are going to have to think your way through like your life. And saluting my brother Rob Singleton in the super chest, salute hommy. I appreciate it, he says, he says, what do he say? He said? You preaching on Friday morning? She salute to your family. The only like, you gotta think your way through this thing, right, And it is imperative that you literally think, because the world is gonna tell you not to think. World is gonna tell you Now I do this, nah do that, And I'm gonna come in here and tell you every day, Nah, it starts with you. You gotta start with yourself. You gotta start with yourself. It starts with you. You understand what I'm saying. It starts with you. Gotta get in here. And when I see like my sister saluted, my sister giving me my thing emoji, that coffee cup means something to me. Like we got a comment, We got a comment. We on a We on a common ground right now, Like you understand what I'm saying, Like we were sitting here and we're talking about life and how we're gonna get better and how we're gonna heal ourselves over a cup of coffee. You feel me. But we're talking, and we're talking about and when embarking on the conversation that the world doesn't want us to have the world wants us to be distracted. You understand what I'm saying. The world wants you to talk about, diddie. The world wants you to talk about Trump. The world wants you to talk about whatever else is going on instead of how are we gonna get better? What can we do? What should we be learning? You understand round the Homie realm hit me up the other day talking about Fine we Ever, Salute the Fine Weaver, Salute to the whole you know, the whiskey family over at Uncle Near's, and you know he was talking about you know, basically, Uh, the company has went under and farn Weaver has been locked out of the company. She's the she's the person who discovered who discovered she she discovered the story of Nears Green a k a. Uncle Nears as it relates to him in the relationship with Jack Daniels and him actually teaching Jack Daniels the whiskey trade, you know, so on and so forth, and then being and being pretty pretty much removed from the history books, if you will. And so you know, they they since created a whiskey brand, created their own award winning world renown whiskey, the Uncle Nears whiskey, uh sowing and so forth, and now you know, it's gotten to the point where the whiskey brand is really big, you know what I'm saying. But the CEO and her husband, who you know happened to CEO and founder Fan Weaver, has been squeezed out because of the debt of the of the company. And I'm I'm just I'm kind of dancing around this subject because I don't want to. I don't want to. I'm not here to judge anybody or or or shame any names, or shame anybody or none of that kind of stuff, because I think what Fine Weaver was able to accomplish was incredible. You feel me, hear and her husband and you know, the family and the whole entire the team over at Uncle Neyer's, Dave accomplished some some amazing things. Right, everything is a lesson though for me, you understand what I'm saying, as a business owner, everything is a lesson for me. So one of the things that I learned about you know what I mean, is is and I learned this. I learned this from master P. Right, keep it behind the scenes, bro, I learned this from master P. And it's all I'm gonna say around because it's a it's a it's a lesson in it. And I learned this. I was in to Leed, Ohio. Tell the story out of time. I was in Tooleed, Ohio and master P was there supporting a boxer. He was a Robert Easter card. When he would have a fight intoled Ohio. Master P was there and everybody was like lining up to take pictures with p or whatever, and so I get up, I walk up to him and he like, oh, come on, homie, you know what I mean. You want a picture? And I'm like, nah, I don't want a picture, and kind of positive looked at me. I was like, nah, man, I don't want no picture. I want to. I want to. I want to know. You know what I'm saying, like, what's the blueprint? You feel me? And the things he said to me have kind of been guiding principles with myself as a as a businessman. You feel me, which is, you put your own bread up, bro, You put your own bread up, and you operate. You basically you operate at that level where you can can you fund your own operation? And if you enter into anything you enter into a partnership, you understand what I'm saying. Or you know you do some you do some Uh what's the what's the word? Where you benefit? I benefit? You enter to those partnerships mutual, mutual benef mutually beneficial partnerships which you put your own bread up. You understand what I'm saying. Because ownership is everything, Like ownership is everything. And if you and you see it all the time, you know what I mean, And it's it's no like think about this. You see this stuff and you see where people somebody has something they started, they build it up, you feel me. Then they look to scale bigger. And in order to scale bigger, what do they do? They take on investors or they take on debt, and they piece out pieces of their company based in the in the debt, you understand what I'm saying. And then once you become immersed in debt, then those debtors have the ability to come in and take over. And when they come in and take over, especially if they take control, then a lot of times they squeeze you out and you absolutely have no control anymore of something that you built. You understand what I'm saying. So people think I'm crazy because you know what I mean of the Punch Junkie brand and the magazine and the trading cards and all that stuff. And people are looking at me like, hey man, you know what's up with it? And I've had offers for the company and people wanted to come in and you know, offer funding or be a part or I've had people want to actually buy the company. You understand what I'm saying, and the answer has always been no, because ownership is everything. Hold on one second, right, sorry y'all, this is real time, and once again saluted my brother Thomas fu Senior in the building. What's up with you, bro? I gotta get out of here. But once again, that's my big baby. She just moved. She's she's in her new city and I had to take that car make sure she was straight. But nah, So I'm I'm looking at the ship, right, and ownership is everything. You understand what I'm saying, And so I would never I've never sold the brand because I believe in the power of ownership, and so it's going to operate at the level in which I can fund and and I operate you understand, until I get to the point where I'm going to sell it. If I ever sell it, you know what I mean. But it'll be like completely on my terms. But I'm not taking in investors. I'm not taking in any any debt in order to operate. Now I'm not, and so that's just the power of that. You have to be careful in business, you know what I'm saying. You gotta be careful in business. You also have to be short that all your eyes are ditted and your t's are crossed, and that's just that, you know what I mean. But ultimately, when it's all said and we get back to it and the fact that the matter is, we need standards, we need standards, and you have to operate from standards. Period. Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah. Solution hearts that. I appreciate it. Man, my first love, my big baby, oh, my big baby, my big baby. Twenty three Man, I got a twenty three year old fan as I am my big old baby. Yeah yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah. All right, but let me say this, Let me say this, and then I'm gonna get out of here. So what do standards look like? People ask all the time, what do you mean by standards? I tell you some of my standards are simple. Like my standards are simple. Once again, simple doesn't mean easy. Simple means simple. You feel me, And just because something simple doesn't make it easy. But like for me, I keep my word. If I make a commitment, I'm honored. You understand what I'm saying. I keep my word. That's just it. You know what I mean. I shoot it, I shoot it straight, I shoot it straight with you, even when it's uncomfortable. I shoot it straight. I shoot it straight even when it's uncomfortable. And a lot of people don't like talking to me because I'm shoot it straight. But I shoot straight man, even when it's uncomfortable. Also, I protect my peace man. I don't allow chaos in my life. Like I don't do the drama shit. I don't do the drama shit like. And it's people that I love that I can't be around because it's always drama with them. You understand what I'm saying, and that's in my real life, that's in my in my my content creation life. You feel me like a lot of people like even with content, it's a lot of family, I don't go to their content because it's always drama like if it's always something some dramatic shit going on, always some arguing or bickering or what I just don't I can't be around at because it offsets my piece. You feel me, and I protect my peace in my life. I don't allow constant chaos in my life. I also own my mistakes. I don't blame other people for my choices. I own my mistakes. I stand on my ship. You feel me and Another one for me is is I continue I continue learning. And a lot of y'all probably have picked this up about me or you understand I've shared. I have a I have a love affair with learning, Like I'm a lifelong learner, as an as an author, as a curator of the of the planner, as a as a as a a blog writer, I have a magazine like I just learned. I learned. I love to learn. You understand what I'm saying, and so I like, literally continue to learn. Nobody owes me my development like I literally go out and I go out and get it. I go out and get it. It's crazy, you feel me. But I'm just a lifelong learner and those are not like goals. That's how I operate on a daily basis. Those things I just said, that's how I operate on a daily basis, And over time, those standards have become my identity. You feel me. So there's people now that will see me and be like, hey bro, what you reading? You know? Like what you're reading? Now? What book you're reading? You feel me? Or hey man, you know I'm coming to you because I know you're gonna tell me the truth. Like I didn't bypass everybody else because I know you gonna tell me the truth. They ask me questions because they understand that I'm gonna tell the truth. But my standards have become my identity, and in doing that, you stop asking what should I do because your standards have already answered. Like I've been learning, I'm learning this new skill. Literally, I'm actively learning, which is why I said I gotta get off of here, because I'm almost done with this, with this project that I'm working on based on this new skill that I learned that y'all gonna see shortly. You feel me, and I'm just always pressing, always pressing. But you don't ask what you should do because your answer, your standards, have already answered. Yeah. So let me leave you with this because I gotta go on this unscripted Friday. Man, don't spend your next year. Don't spend the next year setting bigger goals. You understand what I'm saying. Spend the next year raising your standards. Y'all. Watch what we do when this new year come around, y'all, watch what we do. Y'all, Watch what we do. We gonna flip the whole game. Don't spend the next year setting bigger goals. You spend the next year raising your standards. Raise your baseline. You feel me, how you speak, how you work, how you love, how you lead. I will say how you love? I mean I can't. I don't know what it is about that how you love, because y'all know, love is a big one. And some of y'all love be on some our love be on some bullshit. You feel me like I love be on some bullshit. But you watch how you love, You watch how you lead. You understand how you take care of your body, how you honor your commitments. Yeah, raise your baselines, because once your standards rise, then your results they have to follow. You understand what I'm saying. You want better results, make better standards. You want better results and make better standards. It's that simple. And it ain't gonna be overnight. But it's inevitable, you feel me. It's not instant, but it's inevitable. It's not instant, but it's inevitable. And and I don't know, man, That's that's what we do with this movement. Man. We just here to achieve more. You feel me. It's called raised the standard, like we're raising the standard. Yeah, we raising the standard. Salute to salute to xpiego man in the super chat Man. Salute to your homie, ill appreciated family.
