Why Awareness Must Come Before Discipline | The Black Coffee Club

Why Awareness Must Come Before Discipline | The Black Coffee Club ☕️
Most people don’t fail because they lack discipline.
They fail because they try to apply discipline without awareness.
In this episode of The Black Coffee Club, JuniorTheTruth™ breaks down why discipline collapses when it’s built on pressure instead of preparation—and how awareness is the missing step that makes consistency sustainable.
This conversation covers:
• why discipline without awareness always fails
• how pressure creates burnout instead of progress
• the difference between preparation and self-imposed pressure
• how awareness removes resistance and builds clarity
• what discipline looks like after you see the truth
• how to build structure that supports you instead of punishing you
You don’t need to push harder.
You need to see clearer.
When awareness comes first, discipline stops feeling heavy—and starts working.
☕️ Pull up. Slow down. Prepare with intention.

But today I'm gonna challenge that, of course, and I'm gonna give you some news you could use, and we're gonna we're gonna uh slam it jam and make sure it's broke because most of us we don't fail due to a lack of discipline. Like it's not a lack of discipline. Salute to my sister Joe Delaney Uh in the super Chat thrive and glow with Joe if you will not the super Chat I'm tripping over on the Facebook. Salute to Joe over on the Facebook. Thank you, Joe, I appreciate you. Super Chat ain't even active, you feel me? And saluting my sister pulling double duty now over on the Facebook livestream, Saluting my brother Stormy be Man Man salute to my brother. So we. It ain't it ain't the discipline. It's not the discipline, man, it's not the discipline. We don't. We don't fail due to a lack of discipline. So we can get that off our paltt. We can get that off our pallet. We fail because we try to apply discipline without awareness. You understand what I'm saying. We try to apply discipline without awareness. You feel me. So let's go. Let's go to the childhood. Let's go to our childhood. For those of us that grew up you know what I mean, the under the tutelage of discipline. You feel me, those of us who grew up under the tutolage of a belt or a paddle or a strap or whatever the case may be. Right when we talk about discipline, what is discipline without awareness? Meaning? Have you ever got let me just put it. Bluntly and stop trying to sound our intellectual You ever got your ass whoop for no reason? Like you just got an ass whooping? Yo? Yo yo yo, Mama yo, Daddy just whooped your ass without any awareness of the situation. You just got a ass whooping. Have you ever just got an ass whooping? That you didn't deserve. You understand what I'm saying. You know, you might be kicking it with your little cousins they tear up something and then or your your siblings and your parents come in. Everybody getting it. You understand what I'm saying, Like, everybody finna get ass whooping? You know what I mean? Your your your daddy come in and say, oh, I'm about to go to the room, get my belt. When I come back, I'm whooping everybody's ass. You feel me on the on the Q in a white man can't jump, I'm gonna get my I'm gonna get my strip. I'm gonna come back. I'm whooping everybody's ass. Salute the for our sniper in the building. What's up with you? Homy? Salute that is? And what do we consider that? We consider that? Like, that's abuse. Discipline without awareness is abuse. You feel me? That's a bar. Discipline without awareness is abuse. Salute Oh man man, Salute to my brother Stormy be Man. Saluted my my brother Stormy be Man. Over on rumble Man acting acting out. Salute man, saluting my Stormy be Man for the donation. Over on rumble Man Man. I forgot what that felt like, Man, I ain't got my content. My content ain't got donated. I don't even know how to put it on the screen over here on Rumble. Thank you, Bro. I really truly genuinely appreciate you, Bro, Man, I love you for that. Man. Thank you, Bro, thank you, thank you, thank you. Salute to Taytate Brown, my sister Tayty Brown in the building so growing with Saul said, Man, I got beat between the washer and dryer. Tate said, I was disciplined. You feel me too. Two five Boxing Talk said yep, nobody wanted to take the blame for tearing up the living room. So everybody got an ass whooping. You feel me. Everybody got a everybody got a ass whooping, and you like, Man, I ain't even do nothing. I ain't even do nothing. That's discipline without awareness. That's that's abuse. That's a bar la. Ladie said, Man, I gotta ass whooping for the opposite taking the blame. When my grandmother's neighbor lied on me. My aunt was pissed. Ooh, so they are They framed you. They framed you. You got framed man. I'm talking about that. We're talking about discipline without awareness. So now we can we can We jumped down that rabbit hole just for you to understand that discipline without awareness is abuse. You understand what I'm saying. There's how can you become more disciplined without awareness? Today's conversation is called why awareness comes before discipline? And I'm gonna just for those of y'all that are gonna be running out, those of you all that gotta go, those of y'all that gotta leave, I'm gonna just do this, and we're gonna say this this way. That's because discipline without awareness is abuse. That is why awareness must come before discipline. Why would you want to do that to yourself? How can you become more disciplined without a full level of awareness or a full awareness of yourself? But you want to discipline yourself, that's abuse. You are abusing yourself. And if discipline, if discipline, if indeed discipline has ever felt heavy or stressful or short lived for you, then this conversation is gonna set you free. Man, let's get it. I'm hustled harder than the moment. I'm a feast on these streets, got a revolver. I talk for these niggas trying to take me off the block where I posted up daily. Sit Bailey's out the bottle of smoke. Man, I'm trying to tell you, man, I am man. I'm in this space man, where I am just so locked in and down in to uh growth and mastering myself. It doesn't even make any sense, man, Salutor des mud kunkin Doll, my family in the building, a whole lot of BCU shit, and and I'm in this space where I try not to get Like when I'm in my downtime, my long time, I get really emotional about it. You feel me. I really get emotional about it because I just am in love with the thought of mastering myself. You understand what I'm saying. And I am in love with the thought of helping people get to that space. You understand what I'm saying where you got to realize the most important thing in your life is pursuing your better something like. That's the whole reason we hear you feel me, and the mere fact that you all come in here, the most consistent morning circle on the planet, and you all come in here every day and we have this on these on this on going one long drawn out, ongoing conversation about us and about you and how we're gonna get better. And I'm so locked in on it. Man, it's crazy. I mean it's crazy. But let's get this clear up front. Discipline without awareness always fails. It's gonna always fail. So you wonder why when you try to bite down and you try to get more discipline, it just don't work. You got to look at your level of awareness. You have to look at your level of awareness. Yeah, when you don't know where your time actually goes, what drains your energy, what triggers your habits, what patterns you repeat, discipline turns in the force, and you can't discipline what you don't understand? Right, you can't discipline what you don't understand. Let's q in for those of us that are parents, you got these, you know, you got your children, and a lot of times you know our children have in fractions and the immediate action, the immediate answer and action is usually to discipline them. You understand what I'm saying, but I'm telling you that as a parent, if you're going to discipline your children without taking time to become aware of them in order to heighten your understanding, then you're doing it wrong and you're and you're really truly punishing yourself. You're really truly punishing yourself. Yeah, you can't discipline what you don't understand. Strict schedules, Oh, I'm i gotta, I gotta be better with my time. I'm gonna run a strict schedule. That shit gonna collapse in a week. Extreme routines that feel unbearable, like just extreme, You're gonna be extreme with the routine becomes unbearable. Rules with no context. You make all these rules for yourself, absolutely no context for the rules. You just make the rules because you need more rules in order to frame discipline around yourself. You make habits built on shame. You shame yourself into trying to build better, quote unquote, healthier habits. That's not discipline, y'all. That's punishment. Saluting my sister tay Tate Brown pulling double duty over on Facebook and on the YouTube live stream, Thank you Love, that's not discipline. That's punishment. It's not discipline. That's punishment. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, yea yeah yeah. I want you to drop drop it in the chat. If this has ever been you, I tried to be disciplined and burnt out. Just drop it. Just you can put it one. Put a one in the chat. Salute the champ side first one. I tried to be disciplined and burnt out. You try to be more strict with yourself. You try to put a more strict diet in. You try to put a more strict exercise regimen in. You try to put more strict time parameters around how you spend your time saluting my little brother a being a building. What's up with you? Broke for our sniper salute? Family? I think I spoke to you already, but I'm gonna speak to you again. Man, you my guy saluted for our sniper. Yeah, I'm gonna be more strict. And then you burn out, Kia, you burn out. Let me let me, let me, let me, let me, let me give you this. I'm gonna give you this that burnout. Stop walking away from that burnout feeling like you weak. Stop walking away from that burnout. Labeling yourself is weak. You're not weak. And what you're trying to accomplish is not impossible. What burnout means that burnout means that your ass skipped the awareness step. Your ass skipped awareness. Salute to everybody that has the excuse excuse me the Simple Truth Minute Manual, the second edition book as well as the Planner, and salute to everybody that's already working on the self Mastery Blueprint. All right, listen to me. Hear me and hear me good. Hear me and hear me good. The month of January is intentional awareness. We are ending. We're ending, We're coming upon the end of the month of January for intentional awareness. That is the foundation. This month is solely predicated on intentional awareness. Us becoming aware, not trying to fix nothing. We're not trying to change nothing. We are merely becoming aware. Saluted my brother Felix new that is in a fielding. What's up with you, bro? The artist? We're merely becoming aware. Burnout is not It does not make you weak. You are not weak because you burnt out. You are weak. You are the burnout means that you skipped awareness. So you're not weak, You're unaware. You are unaware. So now, what's awareness? What's awareness. It's amazing because it feels like we having an ongoing conversation, and it feels like it's repetitive, and I'm always saying the same things, so on and so forth. But if you can listen to somebody talk to you about Tank Davis all day, every day, you can bring your ass in here and listen to me tell you that you have to be aware of yourself. You have to heighten your awareness. Awareness. Awareness. Awareness is simply telling the truth without judgment. That's what awareness is, Telling the truth without judgment. Just tell the truth. You understand what I'm saying, no judgment. Tell the truth. You can tell. You can tell the truth just about everything. You just become aware. I am fully aware of the impact that I have on other people, fully aware, no judgment. I am fully aware. I am aware of the impact I have on my children. I am aware of the impact I have on my woman. I am aware of the impact I have on my relatives. I'm aware of the impact I have on my uncles. I'm aware of the impact I have on you. Are I'm aware of the impact I have on my uncles. You feel me? Awareness? Awareness, that's it, not fixing it not changing it not judging awareness? Are you aware of the impact that you have on yourself? Are you all aware of the impact that you have on me? You understand what I'm saying. Are you aware of on the impact that you have on others? Kei? Are you aware of the impact that you have on those babies thrive a Glove with Joe? Are you aware on the impact that you have on the people who come and consume your content, Taita? Are you aware of the impact that you have on your patience, Taytay? Are you aware of the impact that you have on your mother? Do you understand how good it feels for your mom to see you smile and to see you happy? Tayite? Yeah. Awareness. Awareness is simply telling the truth without judgment. I could be a motherfucker. That's the truth. That's the truth. I could be a motherfucker. Darvin. Glove with Joe said, probably not. She's probably not aware of the impact that she has on the people that come and consume her content, People who look at you, you and and have have been able to have reh what's the word re emerge, reinvigorated? Is that the word reinvigorated The hope that they have for the goals that they're trying to accomplish. Their goal might not be getting in shaped, might not be weight loss, it might be something else. But they can look at you and look at your journey and have and have their goals reinvigorated, have their energy reinvigorated around their goals. Yeah. Yeah. Awareness is simply telling the truth without judgment, noticing habits, tracking your time honestly, observing your emotions, recognizing your triggers, seeing patterns. Awareness doesn't demand change. It creates clarity. You understand what I'm saying. After awareness comes to clarity, you have to be clear on things before you can do anything. You have become clear. Awareness doesn't demand change, it creates clarity. So the whole objective is it's to become clear. I had an epiphany about myself this morning. This morning, I had an epiphany about myself. I like to burn the candle. I like to burn the candle too long, too late, and I cannot health in a healthy fashion. Go to sleep after midnight and get up at four thirty am and be ready to function. I like this, And when I do those things, I like the snooze. I hit the snooze button. When I hit the snooze button, I always rise too late, and then I feel like I'm chasing my day. I feel like I'm chasing my day, and that compounds one thing after the other that makes any kind of sense. This is me being This is me being transparent with you. So now I'm running around, I'm halfway dressed. I don't have an undershirt that I that I've been looking for, so I'm uncomfortable. Like it's just it's one thing poud off to the other, which when all of it comes, when all of it comes down to me making the necessary decisions for me to be in line with my actual system. You feel me. I am not perfect in this, like I have to. I am walking this walk lock and step with y'all. We hand in hand, and I'm aware. So now I can go in and I'll get this clarity from my awareness, and now I can go and make the necessary changes. Salute to my brother. Be about a farms man that war that warmed my heart to see you in here, bro, Salute to you, he said, nine forty five am to ten pm. I'm out, you feel me. It's got to be that way, bro, It's got to be that way. I wanted to have a fight party this weekend, be about a farms. And I realized, Bro, I'm not any good after like ten o'clock. Man, I'm probably gonna fall asleep on she quarantine and t yo. If I'm telling the truth, I'm damn sure I'm not gonna be trying to entertain folks. I get. I need that for I need that four. I need that four am wake up, that four fifteen point thirty wake up up and ad them and ready to function. I need that. So listen to me. Awareness doesn't demand change, It creates clarity. Clarity removes resistance. Clarity is how you remove the resistance. Yeah, because the fact of the matter is discipline sticks after awareness. Once the awareness and the clarity come, then your discipline is gonna stick. So when you know when your energy is the highest, where distractions sneak in what you're actually avoiding, discipline stops feeling heavy. So when you literally some of these things that you know, like when you know when your energy is the highest, like for me, I be on so I beyond go in the morning. Y'all know this, y'all be around here. I beyond go in the morning. I beyond go in the morning, you feel me. Yeah, that's what my energy is the highest. My distractions sneak in all throughout the day, especially via social media, and then I get job offers all day long. That's where my awareness comes in. I mean, I'm aware of the distractions, and then I realize what I'm actually avoiding, Like I'm actually avoiding finishing my finishing my studio. That's why I'm still up here in the office. I'm avoiding finishing the painting and finishing everything I need to finish for the studio. I'm avoiding that. That's the truth. I'm avoiding it. Gotta get that shit done. I'm avoiding that. Yeah. But once you realize those things, discipline stops feeling heavy. Yeah, it stops feeling heavy. AB says man, getting up this am was tough. I may need to adopt this. Gotta go to bed at night, bro, Gotta go to bed. I gotta go to bed like nine o'clock. You know what I'm saying really is around the time my babies go to bed, I should be right behind them. Nine forty five, I be about a farm, said I should be out. I should be out, kids said I'm aware that our self sabotage to avoid following my dreams. I procrastinate to the point of destruction. I'm fighting falling back right now. I'm grateful, but I'm struggling. I got you, Sis, I got you, and I'm gonna be more active. I'm gonna be more active. I'm gonna take off my I'm gonna take off of my I'm gonna take off of my soft gloves. I'm gonna take off my soft gloves, soft gloves. Sis, We'll take off my soft gloves. I'm gonna take them off. Because what you need is what we all need, is we need to be surround ourselves with people that's gonna say let's go, let's go, because we got big we got big, big dreams, like we got big things that we building. We got big things that we building. King Vonnie said, that's real. I only got about fifteen minutes of social Emmy and then it's a Then it's a rat. Yeah, man, Yeah, that social media is real. Social media is real. Yeah. So Kid had already set it off. Kidd and already set it off. But in the chat right now, I want you to type one thing that you've become aware of recently, Key already set it off. She said, I'm aware that she didn't even know it. She said, I'm aware of my self sabotaged to avoid following my dreams. So a habit, a time leak, an energy drain, just type one thing that you've become aware of, not something that you fixed. Not something that you fixed, King Vonnie, King Vonnie, good for that, King Vonnie be like, I used to do that, but I'm good now now. I ain't talking about that. King Vonnie, salute the new fab boy fitness, my brother. King Vonnie. We talking about something, not something you fix, something that you notice about yourself. Like I just told y'all. I noticed that. Hey man, I can't burn it. I can't burn it. I can't burn the oil. I can't burn the or y'all can't burn it. Yeah, not something, not something you fix. Something that you notice, Yeah, something that you notice. King finally said, time is not mine. He noticed the time. It ain't time, ain't his time is not mine? Yeah, he said. Posture, My back kills me. So you say you got bad postures that what you're saying, ABT, I got a horrible posture too. I'm like I'm like six three with bad posture. You feel me. My posture is so bad, I'm like six, I'd probably be about down there, six six if I had a good posture. Nah, six fave Growing with soul said. Procrastination, procrastination. You see that that's progress. That's progress. That is literally progress. Something that you notice posture time is not mine. Procrastination, I self sabotage. That is progress. Awareness, no judgment. You're not judging yourself, not judging yourself because you're self sabotaged to keep them following your dreams. You just recognize it. Don't judge yourself because you procrastinate. Don't judge yourself because of your posture, you feel me. None of that. It's progress. It is awareness. You gotta accept that as awareness. Yeah. So another major distinction that we gotta make preparation versus pressure. Preparation versus pressure. So pressure says once again, I should be further. I need to catch up. Something's wrong with me. Pressure rushes, pressure forces, Pressure actually breaks consistency. Yeah, pressure will break your consistency. You understand that, you know how you consistently be doing something, or you'll have a system in place and then you feel pressure to get something done, and what do you do? You evacuate your system in order to get that thing done. The squeaky oil gets to grease. You understand what I'm saying. Yeah, that's pressure. Preparation says, let me see where I am. Let me understand the terrain. Let me survey the land. You feel me, you know, Let me go out in the wild wild Western and survey the land. Wow wow wow wow wow wow you feel me? By Tracy Morgan voice, what is the my hustle man voice, survey the land. Let me set myself up, Let me set myself up, Let me get this thing ready. Preparation is calm, preparation is strategic. Preparation is sustainable. Pressure creates urgency, but preparation creates momentum. You feel me, Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm preparing, not pressuring myself. That's got to be the quote of today. I'm preparing, not pressuring myself. Once again, Pressure rushes, pressure forces, pressure breaks, urgent breaks consistency. Preparation says, let me see where I am, Let me understand the terrain, Let me set myself up. Preparation is calm, Preparation is strategic. Preparation is sustainable preparations is sitting down the night before with your simple truth many man, your planner and sketching your day out for the next day. And that's only if you haven't already sketched the week out. You feel me, that's preparation. Preparation is the system. Preparation is the system. I'm preparing, not pressuring myself. You gotta stop pressuring yourself. There is no pressure. Stop pressuring yourself. Yeah yeah yeah. Growing with Growing with so says it's overly critical of its shortcomings. That overly critical is a monster, bro, because you know what, over being overly critical of yourself, you will paralyze yourself. Bro, You'll paralyze yourself and you'll find yourself not taking any actions because you're overly critical, and you'll be caught up in the You'll be caught up in the in the echo chamber of criticizing yourself as opposed to moving forward with really truly fixing the things that need to be fixed. It's the cold game. It's a cold game. I do it to myself. It's a cold game, bro. Yeah, it's a cold game. Once awareness is in place, though, Once awareness is in place and clarity sets in right because awareness gets in place, clarity sets set, set seeing. Then discipline changes shape and it starts to it starts to form. Discipline becomes alignment instead of force. It becomes consistency instead of the intensity. You understand what I'm saying. So instead of you know, I'm finna go in the gym for a whole week and I'm gonna hit it hard and I'm gonna go crazy, No, you find yourself going to the gym, getting your four days a weekend working out, moving your body every day. You're getting your weight lifting in, you're getting your cardio in, and your slow and steady wins the race. You understand what I'm saying, But you get more consistent consistency instead of intensity. You get structure instead of punishment. You get structure instead of punishment, and you get support instead of self attack. Yeah, phylish News just said, I'm aware and have accepted that anxiety does affect me. I honestly thought it was something I was free of. It doesn't go away, bro, that doesn't go away. That's not something that goes away. Said, been meditating the last couple of months. Good, Yeah, that's not something that goes away. That's something that you have to You have to constantly, You have to constantly work. That's ongoing work, you know what I mean, the work. The worst thing that we can think, in my opinion, is that we're healed of stuff. You're not healed of stuff. Like think of it as once when when when you have conditions or illnesses or sickness, you're not healed of It doesn't just go away. It's a continuous body of work. You understand what I'm saying. The people that I know that like beat cancer for instance, right, people have cancer and they beat cancer, then they dedicate them lives, their lives. Some of the people I know dedicate their lives to live in a healthier lifestyle, to maintain their body, to keep to keep the cancer away. You don't beat cancer and go back to smoke a cigarettes or whatever the case may be. You know what I'm saying. So it's ongoing. It's ongoing. But once again, once awareness is in place and clarity set seeing, discipline changes shape and discipline becomes alignment instead of force. It's not force, it's alignment. It's consistency, not intensity. Its consistency. It's structure. It's not punishment. It's support, not self attack. You're supporting yourself, not attacking yourself. And discipline works best when it's informed. You understand what I'm saying. Discipline works best when it's informed. When something takes place, you don't come in and whoop everybody. You understand what I'm saying. Some of the face gets broke, don't come in and whoop everybody. You got to get to the bottom of it and figure it out. It's more effective. It's more effective. Could be more direct, be more direct. Discipline works best when it's informed. So an example is choosing routines that match your energy. You know what your energy level is. Choose routines that match your your energy. You set your boundaries based on reality. What's the reality of your life. What's the reality of your situation. Set your boundaries based on your reality. Bill habits that actually fit your lifestyle. Make the make the right behavior the easy behavior, Make the right behavior the easy behavior. And saying no without guilt. You have the right to say no. That's that's discipline. When it's informed, you can say no without feeling guilty. Man I said, man I say no all the time with no guilt, no shame. And this is all how discipline becomes a tool and not a weapon. And the whole goal is for you to make your discipline a tool and not a weapon. Don't use it as a weapon. Gets yourself, you use it as a tool. But once again, discipline comes after awareness. So I'm gonna leave you with this. If discipline ever felt heavy for you, don't double down on discipline. If it's heavy, don't double down on it.
