Most people don’t lose focus all at once. They lose it gradually through interruptions, notifications, reactive habits, and small attention leaks that slowly weaken structure and consistency.
In this episode of The Black Coffee Club™, we break down how distractions quietly shape your life, why attention theft is so dangerous, and how awareness is the first step toward protecting your focus and rebuilding structure.
Because here’s the truth:
Your distractions are not harmless. They are shaping your outcomes.
If you’ve been feeling mentally scattered, inconsistent, or unable to maintain focus, this conversation will help you identify where your attention is leaking—and how to take control of it again.

It's Monday, And I know some of y'all come in here, se y'all think, y'all slick, y'all come in here trying to get motivated. You want to come get some Monday motivation so we can get fired up for the week. Now, you got to that's coming from internal, that's internally. You got to motivate yourself. You got to motivate yourself. And that's if it should be painfully obvious that you have to motivate yourself. You got up, You get up. And you come in here and you look around everybody else that's around you. They're not here. You feel me, your friends, family, Romann's, Romans, countrymen, they're not here. You're here obviously for you have a different freezing and you have a different purpose you're going to have to motivate yourself. And it's not even called motivation when it's internal. It's called drive. But that's something totally different. That's a whole nother conversation for another day. Top of the day, to you grab your coffee, sits still for a minute before you get pulled somewhere else. Some of y'all are already at work. Brent Fox's you in Texas, Broun, you already at work. I don't even want to know what time you had to be at work. But today we back at it. This week we're back at it. We have our core things, we have our pillars, and we're continuously and constantly chipping away. You saw the title, Maybe you didn't. Some of y'all didn't. I think y'all be walking right on past the saying you feel me of what we serve. And today y'all walk right on past the menu and y'all just come in you feel me. I think that's the majority, y'all. I appreciate y'all. I love y'all for that. I love y'all for that now and I think about it, y'all just walk right on past the menu and come on in. Here and say whatever they in they're serving up, it's gonna be good. We're talking about distraction, not surface level distraction, not oops, I lost my focus for a second, distraction. That goes my shirt, Oh my oh, not that kind of distraction. No, We're talking about something deeper, something quieter, something more dangerous, something more sinister. In my opinion, your distractions are destroying your life quietly. Yeah. Now, if I say you're distract or when I say your distractions are destroying your life quietly. You feel hit. We're key at you feel. You feel you something make you say, oh like, what are you? Huh? Yeah, your distractions are destroying your life quietly, and most of us that you never notice it happening. You never notice it happening because distractions rarely destroy your life all at once. Now we have had it happen. We have had it happen. We've seen it happened where it's destroyed everything. A moment of distraction has destroyed everything. So look at jelly bean forty two h one in a building. What's up with your family? Is you a cop? Jay Reid? Is you a cop? Jay Reed? Is you a cop? Nolla said you stay punching on me. Those are love taps. Those are love taps. Noellah, Yeah, because I'm I'm gonna love you to your greatness. Distractions really destroy your life all at once. We've seen it happen though we've been distracted. We've taken that ride with our with our you know, our homie, and we end up on federal charges. You know that type of shit happens. But you know those are those are those are outliers I'm talking about daily. Your distractions kill your life. They're destroying your life quietly, and it's slowly, and it's small leaks, small interruptions, small losses of intent, of attention that compound over time and eventually you wake up. I had to I had to sit, I had to sit my jaw on this. I just hit my damn self. I just I just hit my damn self. Those small leaks, man, small interruptions, small losses of attention that that that that literally compound over time. The compound over time, and eventually eventually you wake up disconnected from your goals, from your priorities, from your structure, ultimately from your purpose. Imagine walking, Imagine walking through this world disconnected from your purpose and it's not because you lackability, not because you're not because you're you're your lackability, but because your attention kept getting stolen. Because not because you lacked ability. You're disconnected from your purpose, not because you lackability. Like I'm not. I'm not. I know y'all tired of me, man, but I ain't coming off that shit. You are disconnected from your purpose, the reason why you are on this earth. You're disconnected from that. And it's not because you lack the ability. It's because your attention kept keeps getting stolen and you keep letting it. Let's get it. One. I'm hustled harder than the moment. I'm a feast on these streets gallery Bolver I took for these niggas trying to take me off the block where I points up daily sit Bailey's out the bottles smoke, Hey man, save man, ay man, same man. Y'all. Sure, y'all want to keep talking, saluting my brother boxing and barbecue. Y'all. Sure y'all want to keep going because I you know, we didn't set them out full already up until this point. Y'all want to keep going, y'all get you feel me? How about this salute to everybody on the live stream. Thank y'all, shout out the airbar on the replay game, replay gag and full effect. What's up with you? Salute to everybody listening in to the podcast man, hashtag Junior Mafia and me live famili. Your podcasting is my first love. There we go. I was just about to ask if y'all want to keep going, man. Drop a drop a coffee cup, Drop a drop a coffee cup. Let me go back to the last, Let me go back to the last stanza. Yeah, those small losses of attention compound over time, and eventually you wake up disconnected from your goals, your priorities, and your structure and ultimately your purpose in life. The reason why you hear and your disconnection does not come from a lack of ability. It's not because you lack the ability. It's because your attention keeps getting stolen and you keep letting it. All right, let's start here. Focused leaks are usually small, very very small minute. And that's why you ignore them. You feel me checking your phone real quick, switching tabs, scrolling for a few minutes, responding immediately after every notification, as soon as somebody texts you stop what you're doing, and you respond. None of it feels serious in the moment. But those are small interruptions, and they stack up, they stack up, and untimately they become habitual. Excuse me, which one of y'all habitually has your phone in your hand? Every time I see you walking across the room, you got your phone in your hand. You in the kitchen cooking dinner, you got your phone in your hand. You feel me. You walking through the store, you got your phone in your hand. You're driving, you got your phone. In your hand. Those small interruptions stack And here's the true Your attention doesn't disappear all at once. It leaks over time. And once your attention leaks, your structure weakens. Like your structure, it weakens, your consistency weakens, your momentum weakens. So let me ask you something. Where does your attention leak most right now? Where does your attention leak most right now? Be honest? Where does your attention leak most right now? Mine definitely leaks during work hours when I'm sitting at my desk. My attention leaks like during the day that from the time I'm done here, Like that, about that ten am to three pm. It's just constant leak. You feel me constantlyk Salu to my brother, be about a carns in the building. He says, Shit, I might not respond for several days depending on what I'm asked. What I'm asked, you feel me depending on what was asked. Yeah, but you got to be honest with with where does your attention lead most? Right now? Because awareness is the beginning of control, and ultimately we're in here to get control. You feel me self. Mastery is about control. We have to get control. Now, let's talk about attention theft. I know I'm moving briefly. That's what we do. Attention theft because modern life isn't built around capturing your attention right acts, notifications, algorithms, content, Everything competes for access to your mind. Everything competes for access to your mind, and ultimately, for the majority of the time, you stay complet deletely exposed. You're always reachable, You're always reactive, You're always consuming, always consuming, You're always consuming. And here's the dangerous part. You can't build a focused life with unprotected attention. You cannot build a focused life with unprotected attention. It doesn't work because attention is not just what you look at, right, Attention is not just what you look at. Attention is also energy, energy direction, mental bandwidth, and ultimately, did I hope? Did I get that? You appreciated feelings? Doing there? As you know? We are we will sweeping? We did? We swept up some shit yesterday. Yeah, we went and we went and swept up, swept the whole block, swept the whole block. M hm hm. Attention is energy, direction, mental beandwidth, and whatever controls your attention eventually influences your life. I'm gonna use a stronger word. Whatever controls your attention controls your life. How about that, whatever controls your attention controls your life. Yeah, if bullshit controls your attention, bullshit is going to control your life. And ultimately, if I was to be real, that's why people feel mentally exhausted all the time. It's not because life is man is not not because life is impossible. It's because your mind never gets protected. You feel me You feel mentally exhausted. I said, I'm gonna stop talking in third person. I'm gonna start talking directly to you. You feel mentally exhausted constantly all the time. It's not because your life is impossible. It's because your mind never gets protected. It's the last time you protected your mind. And like I said before, you gotta protect your mind like you protect your mother fucking money. Protect your mind like you protect your money. Protect your mind like you protect them punk ass kids. You feel me, protect your mind like you protect them secrets. All right, So let me connect the structure. Man, Let's connect this structure. Because distraction doesn't just steal your time. Distraction breaks systems. You build routines, the distractions interrupt them. You create plans. Then your attention leaks, weaken your execution, you feel me. You try to stay focused, but constant interruptions keep resetting your momentum. And the truth is, distraction is the enemy of structure. Distraction is the enemy of structure because structure requires consistency, and consistency requires protected attention. You know what I mean. Consistency requires protective attention. You cannot build discipline routines in chaotic environments. You can't do it. That's why some people constantly start over. You feel me. Think about it. You've been in these spaces of chaos like it might have been, It might be relationship chaos. It might be work chaos is a big one. You feel me and you cannot even think clearly while you're at work because of the amount of chaos that's going on in your organizational environment. You can't think straight, you can't execute. How are you ever to do what you're supposed to do there with regard to your job and you can't even think straight. You have to constantly, constantly have your uh routines reset. The environment is chaotic and that's why you constantly have to start over. It's not necessary because you lack discipline, because distractions keep destroying the structure that you're trying to build. You build something, then you have to walk away from it. You start building something else, you gotta walk away from it. Yeah, Now here's the shift this is you know, I like. I love that shift ship. Here's the shift I love that shift ship. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah. Dad says I'm opposite fam I operate better in chaos. It's crazy though. Yeah, that's the same shit I used to tell myself. Man, I get fresher under pressure. I operate better when it's chaotic. That's the ship that I have to I had to tell myself to cope with the pain. Bro. I'm telling you that. I'm telling you the honest to God truth. Bro. You operate better within an organized system that you've put your hand to. We operate the best in chaos because we've had no choice, BRO, coming from where we come from, dealing with the things we had to deal with, facing the shit that we have, the face that nobody else got a face. BRO. We we have to. We have to be able to operate in chaos. You operate better when you have a system in place, Bro, that you have cultivated in order to maximize your productivity. You feel me, because while we're operating in uh and we're operating good and our chaos, Bro, there's a whole bunch of other ship that we are unable to get to. That is the ship that really gives us meaning and fulfills our life. You understand what I'm saying. So yeah, we that's the we. We we operate and create in chaos because we have to, BRO. But that's not your best operation, big Das. I'm telling you, that's not your best operation. Your best operation is the ship that's in your mind, the ship that the conversations that we've had about the ship that you're trying to build and things you want to build, and ideas and stuff that we have talking about real conversations we've had. Bro. When we're able to to cultivate that stuff and we're able to bring those and engineer those ideas, that is the best operation, not our chaos. You feel me. Yeah, it's a cold game, Bro, it's a cold it's a cold it's a cold game. It's a cold game. It's a cold game. Slew to our brothers, Stormy be men in the building. Jelly Bean forty two eighty, he said, say it louder for those in the back need this good word today. Yea, yeah, yeah, get it until we get it, Bro, that's it. We get it until we get it. That's why we keep coming back. Come on, let's move, let's move, let's move. Here's the shift. Awareness changes everything because most people, we operate unconsciously. Dad, that's what we're talking about, you talking about, Bro, brothers, me and folk. We operate unconsciously. You understand what I'm saying. We don't even we get to the point now, Bro, we don't even understand or or we don't even notice what's pulling on us. You pulled in this direction, pull in that direction, pulled in this direction. And what do we do? We just get shit done. You feel me. We don't even notice the pulling no more. You understand, we don't notice how often we interrupt ourselves. We don't even notice it. You understand what I'm saying. We don't even notice it. We don't even notice how fragmented our at tension has become because we just get it done. We're just doing it. We're just moving. We on that badass auto pilot. You understand. And the truth is, once you become aware, then you start seeing your patterns, Then you start seeing leaks, then you start seeing what's competing for your mind and awareness. Once you become aware, this is what's dangerous. You understand what I'm saying. This is what's dangerous, and this is what's dangerous in life. You feel me because you gotta be This is why motherfuckers be trying to seek an understanding, and when you get it, it's dangerous and everybody else in the world be looking at you like you're crazy because awareness creates choice. Where Neela, are you still in here? Because I need that bar on a meter? Awareness creates choice. Once you become aware, now you have the right to choose. You feel me, Now you have a right to choose. Awareness creates choice, and that's the key. Yeah, you cannot protect what you refuse to notice. So awareness comes first. Y'all even noticed a pattern with their mind. I will give y'all some game, but we always talking about awareness, and it always happens to be like on Monday, you fear me, But awareness comes first because discipline, excuse me, before discipline, you gotta have awareness before systems. You gotta have awareness before change. You gotta have awareness. Awareness creates choice. You understand what I'm saying. You got that, You got that, You got that broad that you're crazy about because she do that thing you like? You feel me, But she batshit crazy, and she been able to keep a lid on it, she being able to keep a lid on it, and so you just kind of operating like, oh, man, ooh, I like her, I like the way she looks. Oh look at her. You feel me that, my baby, You understand what I'm saying. But once you become aware that she's batshit crazy, you feel me, then you could say, all right, now you can choose you feel me. Now you're not operating under false pretenses. You understand now that she is absolutely out of her fucking mind and batshit crazy. So now you can make the decision. Awareness creates choice. Women folk, you deal with that band. He make you feel good, He makes you feel like you ain't never felt before. You feel me. Then you realize he ain't shit, and his grandmama know it. And once you realize he ain't shit and his grandmamaa know it. Awareness creates choice. Now you have the opportunity to choose without operating under false pretenses. Awareness creates choice. That's why awareness comes first. Salute, I see you, Yeah, yeah, I ain't even man. I gotta go, We gotta go. It's this We twenty six minutes, and this is way over. I said twenty five and done. Let's make this practical. If you want stronger focus, you need stronger protection. If you want stronger focus, you need stronger protection, period, point blank, the end of the story. Awareness creates choice. If you need, if you need, if you need, or excuse me, if you want stronger focus, you need stronger protection. Number one, you got to identify your biggest distraction. What in the hell is your biggest distraction, not all distractions, the main one, which one constantly breaks your focus. Number two, reduce access silent notifications, limit unnecessary exposure, protect your environment. Number three, create those focus windows, those bad ass focus windows that I constantly talk about, dedicated time where your attention belongs to one thing only. We're talking about getting shit done. How do we get it done? We got this stuff we're trying to build. We got these these these these these things that we're cultivating. We got these tasks we're trying to do that are all part of our purpose. How I'm telling you how to get the ship done? Nella said, awareness creates shame too. I think that's where I may get stuck. Well, it's not necessarily it's a it's awareness, right, but it's it's it's also we gotta go back Nulla to that, to that, to those we got that, We got that that thing in us. You understand what I'm saying, that integrity You feel me where we have our we have our values, right, we have our our we have our values, we have our our our. Are different. You know our our codes, we have our thoughts, we have our words, we have our actions. You understand what I'm saying. And when everything is in line, that's the integrity. Now, when you go outside of that, like when you go outside of your thoughts, when you go outside of your values, when you go outside. Of that creates shame. You you feel me. Have you ever done something that's outside of your best mind and then you come back and you're. Like, fuck, man, that was dumb. That was done. It's because you stepped out of line. You stepped you came out of alignment, and that creates shame, especially for smart motherfucker. You feel me, especially for somebody that's smart, especially for somebody that know better, because if you know better, you do better. You feel me. That's what creates shame because your ass no better because you're smarter than that, because you know you deserve better than that. You even if it's for you yourself, Like I've done shit to myself and I look at myself like, man, I. Deserve better than that. Man, I'm fuck And that's where the shame comes from. Because you are operating beneath where you know you're supposed to be operating, and that's where the shame comes from. But that's that's that's that also is awareness. You feel me. That also is awareness. Man. I wish up. I wish y'all was serious about doing this work. You feel me because we gotta get well, like we gotta get better. I really wish y'all was serious about doing this work. I really wish I would roll out this this boot camp and y'all will sign up because we only need twenty fast. I need twenty five people, that's for real. I wish I would roll out this boot camp, this one week boot camp where we go through this, we go down through there every day. You feel me. I wish I could get twenty five y'all to sign up, But I can't even get twenty five y'all to sit down and stay. In here at the same time. Yeah, I can't even get twenty five yall to hit the like button sleut to Mahart next sports podcast. I see, y'all. I can't even get twenty five y'all to go by the goddamn book and a planner because you need a system, all right, create those focused windows, dedicated time where your attention belongs to one thing only. Damn, I gotta go. We over thirty minutes. I'm about to envoid y'all. Number four, and this is a big one. Audit your attention daily, every day. Audit your attention. Where did my focus go today? Where did my focus go today? That question builds awareness, And what did we say about awareness? Awareness creates choice. So once you're aware where your attention with on that day, the next day, what happens, you have the right to choose because awareness creates choice. Yeah, lol, I d come in and said, why you need twenty five? Why not ten? Y'all get on my fucking nerves. I'm just gonna tell y'all the truth on this Monday. It ain't even trouble man Tuesday. But I love y'all enough to tell y'all, y'all get on my fucking earth. I could have came in here and said I need ten and she would have said, why. Didn't why not twenty five or why not five? Y'all come in here and y'all just y'all just be talking just because y'all got lips. I need twenty five because I've done the research and I have a goal in mind, and I'm trying. I'm trying to I need twenty five because that's that's what my research and what my goal and what I'm trying to produce. That's what that says, Sue to my sister Lila d that's a hurring. I think I'm starting to think Mahari is LILAIDI. I think they wanted to say, all right, man, let's close this out. The the truth of the matter is, if I was to tell you the truth, if I get twenty five people to sign up, I know I'll get ten every day. Ah, let's close this out. This conversation matters. It matters. It matters so much. We probably should go a little bit more and deep. We probably should go more. We probably should go deeper. Your life is shaped by what constantly receives your attention, not occasionally consistently. Your life is shaped by what consistently receives your attention, not occasionally consistently. And if distractions constantly control your attention, eventually they're gonna influence your outcomes or lack thereof, quietly, slowly and over time. So here's the question, what is quietly still in your focus right now? And more importantly, why are you still allowing it access? Because your distractions are not harmless, they're shaping your life. They're shaping your life. Actually, fuck that. Your distractions are not harmless. They're destroying your life. They are destroying your life. Hey man, this is the Black Coffee Club around here. We don't just protect time, we protect our attention. Hey man. Man, godly, I think we did.
