You're Thinking About It More Than You're Doing It

You're Thinking About It More Than You're Doing It | The Black Coffee Club™
Overthinking, perfectionism, procrastination, execution, self-discipline, and personal growth are deeply connected. Many people are not stuck because they lack ideas—they're stuck because they're spending more time thinking than doing.
In this episode of The Black Coffee Club™, JuniorTheTruth™ has a direct conversation about one of the biggest obstacles to progress:
Overthinking.
Too many people are trapped in cycles of:
* planning
* researching
* preparing
* revising
* waiting
Instead of executing.
The result?
Months pass.
Years pass.
Goals stay unfinished.
And life remains unchanged.
This conversation explores:
* overthinking
* perfectionism
* fear of starting
* execution
* self-trust
* momentum
* action
Because here's the truth:
The action you're avoiding is often the action that creates the clarity you're looking for.
We'll discuss:
✔ Why overthinking feels productive
✔ How perfectionism becomes paralysis
✔ Why people fear starting
✔ The connection between action and self-trust
✔ How momentum is created
✔ Why execution matters more than preparation
If you've been stuck in planning mode, waiting for certainty, or looking for the perfect time to start...
This conversation is for you.

But I can't say, like it don't go back that far because I actually wasn't born. But when but I still liked the Knicks. And when when? You know they created it, do y'all know that the the the flagrant foul was created because of my New York Knicks, Because of my beloved New York Knicks. They implemented the flagrant foul because of us, because of Charles Oakley. You feel me, Anthony Mason Senior, Patrick Ewing, John Starks. We used to whoop ass, you feel me? We used to whoop ass. I wish my homeboy ray Lee was in here. He used to tell it, tell you. We used to play NBA Live. You feel me? And I used to uh uh uh uh. He said, this is not a basketball show, this is a Knicks show. We used to play NBA Live and I would play back when Doc Rivers was the starting point guard for the New York Knicks. Glenn the Doc Rivers, You feel me? And I used to play and I would I would like they would allow you to push people out. This is NBA Live had to be ninety five, nineteen ninety five, NBA Live had to be. They used to let you push people out the air. And I used to beat people ass men on that game. And then I come down with Derek Harper, pull up on him, three pointer? You feel me? John starts coming to the sad driving slash into the basket, banging on niggas. They implemented the Flakran foul because of my beloved New York Knicks. I still don't speak to Charles Smith to this day, and he is a University of Pittsburgh alum. He spoke to me one time and we was there for a LUM event. I just looked at him and shook my head and I said, Bro, why didn't you just dunk the motherfucker? He said, Man, I know, bruh. That was it. That was the art exchange. You fuck about? No, Charles Smith? Man, everybody, Oh Charles, ain't ya fuck him? Sixteen? You didn't jump, You didn't dunk the ball. Bro, Charles Smith, why didn't you dunk the ball? So did my brother? Be about his farms in a building? You power up and you dunked. You gotta doc that shit. I'm really a New York Knicks fan. Shit's different. A lot of motherfuckers caught the wave because they Carmelo Anthony fans, and they came and Carmelo came over and they joined the band. Fuck y'all, I'm really a New York Knicks fan. Man, Let's get started with the show. Shout out to y'all. Man. I don't even want to talk about Solf Marris, you know, I want to talk about the Knicks, suster k. I'm scoring up building La La I die. What's up with you, girl? I see you. I got something special for you, La l I d I do I do? But y'all just watch, y'all, Just just just y'all, just hang on for a little bit, y'all, just hang on for a little bit. Wild said, like when zad led probably beat him, I went straight to his dem You're really in New Yorker, You really a New Yorker. It's trouble man too. Sday. Let's get to it, man. I I uh, I made some of y'all uneasy yesterday, so I figured I might as. Well steal the deal of to day. Salute to your ab I see you in the building, may get your call for your favorite morning beverage. We already thirteen minutes in and I ain't even talked about shit but the Knicks because tomorrow I probably wondn't even do a show tomorrow. I ain't gonna lie to you. You feel I'm chilling. I ain't doing man tomorrow. I'm I probably barbecue. You feel me? We get rid of I'm barbecuing diraft barbecue, Giraffe. We're gonna fuck that motherfucker up. You hear me, Big Jude said, New York is taking it. You feel me? Man, We're gonna we oh Man, We're gonna. I might fly. I might fly to New York. I might fly to New York and just catch me. I might go catch me in NYC, rat man, just to commemorate the Knicks winning. Bro, if the Knicks winning is, I might fly to NYC and commemorate me a rat. You feel me. And naming Bernard, nameing Patrick. You understand I'm talking about I ain't bullshitting. Go out there and catch me a mother fucking rat, bring you back to Ohio and raise him as my own. I'm not bullshitting man. Let's get to it. Man. Man, you lieing to yourself, You lieing to yourself. You lie, you lie, you lie, you lie, you lie, you lie, you lie, you lie. But today we're gonna have an honest conversation because I think you stuck. I think you stuck, and I can tell by the way you act that you stuck. I can tell by the way you act that you stuck. Nah that i'm'a feed him with weed, Brownie. Ain't gonna be no fight at all. I already got this mapped out in my head. I'm gonna feed him edible. There ain't gonna be no fight. Feed the ratit edible. He gonna get lethargic, Box him up, throw him in the back of the throw him in the back of my my cargo van, tie him up. You feel me, ten hours, we'll be back at the crib. Easy work, easy work. I think you're stuck, and you're stuck. It's not because you don't know enough this. It's not because you don't know enough. It's not because you lack potential. It's not because you lack opportunities. That ain't it. The reason why you stuck. It's because you're thinking about it more than you're doing it. You're thinking about it more than you're doing it. And honestly, this is one of the most common traps people fall into. They think, research, analyze, plan, prepare, revise, reconsider, think, research, analyze, plan, prepare, revised, reconsider, reconsider, read some litterature on the subject, you show fuck it. Yeah, then you think some more. And while you're thinking, life keeps moving. The opportunity doesn't wait, the goal doesn't get closer, the work doesn't get done, and eventually you start confusing mental activity with actual progress. That is dangerous. You actually start confusing mental activity with actual progress. That's dangerous because. Movement in your mind is not always movement in your life. You feel me, think about it. You at a party, Your cut come on, and in your mind you dancing like a motherfucker, all while you're sitting there in your chair, not moving a muscle. Did you hear what I said? Say it one more time? You are at a party, the party of all parties. Your favorite song comes on. You feel me that dance that you've been waiting on, I mean that you've been working on, that you've been. Doing in your own time in your own mirror. You're doing it the dance in your head and you moving and grooving and you killing that shit. But in real. Life, you are sitting there in your chair, not moving a muscle and missing your opportunity to cut a mean rug. You're sitting there and you are missing the opportunity of your life to cut a mean rug. And that's the conversation this morning. Let's get it one. I'm hustled harder than the moment. I'm a feast on these streets. Got a revolver I told for these niggas trying to take me off the block where I pointed up Daily, Sit Dailey's out, the bottless. Movement up Daily, Sit Bailey's out the bottle and smoke. Shout out the face mob, and salute to the most intention of morning circle on the planet. Now I'm finna get to it, So y'all stop taking me off task. Don't be talking to me about no damn New York Knicks, because we getting out of here in thirty minutes. You feel me. We getting out of here in thirty minutes, and we already at nineteen minutes and eleven seconds. Let's go. Let's start with overthinking because overthinking is tricky. It's tricky. It's tricky. It doesn't feel like procrastination. Overthinking feels reasonable, Angie, it feels intelligent. He ay, Angie, why sports baby? It feels productive, Sister, overthinking feels productive. You tell yourself, I just want to make sure. Then you say, I want to make sure. I'm sure. I need to think it through. I need more clarity. I don't want to make the wrong move. And on the surface that sounds reasonable, but eventually you have to ask, for fucker, how much thinking is enough? How much thinking is enough? At what point have we thought enough? Because there comes a point where thinking stops helping. Did you hear what I said? There comes a point where thinking no longer helps and it starts delaying. A lot of people aren't gathering information anymore. You're not gathering information anymore. You are hiding. Your ass is hiding inside the information. You're not preparing, your postponing. And here's the truth. Most breakthroughs happen after action, not before it, you feel me, Most breakthroughs happen after action, not before it. That's one of my big problems with the church, you feel me, the Black Church. It's one of my big problems because we're sitting around and we're waiting for a breakthrough. If any if, if, if God gonna if anything gonna get done, God got to do it. We need a breakthrough, We need a breakthrough. We need a building fund. We gotta do this, we gotta do that. But most breakthroughs happen after action, not be for it. So we're looking for breakthroughs with zero action. Violence in our neighborhoods. Everybody's talking about man, we just need a breakthrough. Man, we just need it. We just need something. Somebody has got to be somebody, motherfucker. How about is you? How about is you? Breakthroughs happen after action, not before it. You cannot sit on your ass and think that you got a breakthrough coming. Breakthroughs come when you put your hands on this. Then if that don't work, all right, well let's try it this way. And then if that don't work, all right, let's try it this way. Have you tried this? Have you tried that? You gotta try this, and you your ass has to be emotion in order to get a breakthrough. When you sit on your ass, you don't get no breakthroughs. Breakthroughs happen after action, not before it. No disrespect to my church folk, but even the book, even the Bible, tells you faith without works is dead. Your ass got to be working. You feel me. If you wanna, you wanna, you wanna, uh, you wanna uh some man, never mind, I'm gonna stop there. You gotta be doing something. You gotta be emotion. Look at Joe. Joe said, faith with our works is dead. Truth then said, hey, now you gotta be emotion. You gotta be emotion. You don't think your way into confidence. You act your into confidence. You don't think your way into momentum. You move your way into momentum. And that's what overthinkers often miss. The action is what creates clarity, not the other way around. Clarity doesn't come from solely thinking. You feel me me here, and y'all be looking at me like like I be killing it, like I'll be henting it out the park or whatever the case may be. Like you know why it hits because I done missed a thousand times. So I know what missing feels like. I feel I feel, I know the feeling of missing. I know what missing looks like. Done this a while, I know what doesn't work for me. Overthinkers often miss that. All right, let's talk about perfectionism. This is where I'm gonna get all in some of y'all's wheelhouse real quick. So let me do it, man, bits y'all off, y'all off, on y'all day. I love you, but it's trouble man Tuesday, So let's get to it. Let's talk about perfectionism. Let's talk about perfectionism, because perfectionism sounds noble. To a bullshit motherfucker, sounds noble. People say, I just want it to be right, I want to do my best, I want everything lined up. But if we're honest, we're honest. If you tell yourself the truth, perfectionism is fear wearing a suit is dressed up, fear it's dressed up, fear, fear of failure, fear of judgment, fear of criticism, fear of looking foolish, fear of not being good enough. So instead of starting, people just keep adjusting, keep tweaking, to keep refining, to keep preparing, to keep waiting, all while you do all this while you tell yourself that you're being productive. But this is this is what perfectionism doesn't tell you. Perfect is never coming. Perfect is never coming. Perfect is never coming. There will always be another improvement, another adjustment, another thing to fix, another thing to learn, which means if perfection is the requirement, then you'll never begin. And that's the trap because perfectionism doesn't create excellence. More often than not, it creates paralysis. There is no movement, no movement. So let's go deeper. For Nolla the Great, let's go deeper. Why is starting so difficult? Starting is difficult. Whatever that thing you're trying to do, you trying to figure out why it's so difficult for you. The reason why it's so difficult for you to start is because starting creates exposure. The moment you start, the possibility of failure becomes real. It becomes real. The moment you start, you either gonna do that shit or you not. You feel me, And that's why it becomes so hard to start. Starting creates exposure. The moment you start, the possibility of failure becomes real. Now people can see it. Now, your results matter, Now, accountability shows up. And the truth of the matter is a lot of people are not afraid of the work. They're afraid of what the work might reveal. They're afraid that the business might not work, the project might struggle, the goal might take longer than expect, the effort might not get applause. So instead of risking disappointment, they stay in planning mode. It's safe. You feel me, they're gay, boss. They stay in the planning mode. Yeah, where it's safe, because planning feels safe. Thinking feel safe, talking about it feel safe. But execution, execution requires courage. You gotta drop your nuts, respectfully, sisters, you gotta drop your nuts. Execution that's when you gotta drop your balls, or your or your hell or your ovaries. I don't know. Don't drop your ovaries. I don't know. You gotta you gotta drop something. You feel me, you gotta drop something. Execution requires courage. Sweet Tay Tate Brown in the building. What's up? What you love? Salute to you? Yeah, execution requires courage. Courage is not confidence. Courage is action before confidence arrives. I think I should stop their kid because I think that's a bar. Let me tell you, courage is not confidence. You feel me. If you run your ass out here in the street thinking that courage is confidence, you're gonna get your ass toed up. Courage is not confidence. You feel me. Courage is not confidence. Courage is the action before confidence arrives. You feel me. Courage is action before confidence arrives. And that's what many people miss. You're waiting to feel ready, but readiness comes after you start. Man, Readiness comes after you start. You ain't never gonna be ready. You ain't ever gonna be ready. Nah. Third game says shit, I walked in right on tame. You always on tame. Courage is not confidence. I should put that on the shirt. Courage is not confidence. Courage is action before confidence arrives. You gotta start in order to feel confident. Dave has came in and dropped my theme emoji. Courage is not a sister Angie, don't leave the first part out. Courage is not confidence. You feel me before it's before, it's before. We we gotta we gonna say the whole thing you feel me, just so that we don't miss it. We gotta say what it ain't before we tell you what it is. Courage is not confidence. Salute to my sister. Salute to my sister Neella the Great in the super chat. I appreciate I appreciate you. Yeah, uh oh what was that where are we at? There we go? They gotta run that back. I don't like the way that sounded. I hit the splank. That sound like we're playing cross crossy roads. You feel me we're playing crossy rolls or something. Courage is not confidence. Courage is the is the is the action before confidence rives. She said, I rought that too, Yes, ma'am. Let's get it. Now we can move forward. Now we can move forward. Nah man, all right, so let's get to it. One of the biggest lessons I've learned is this self trust is built through action. Self trust is built through action, not intention. Action. Every time you do what you said you was gonna do, did jear me. Every time you do what you said you was gonna do, you strengthen the trust with yourself. Every time you do what you said you was gonna do, you strengthen trust with yourself. Think about when you say you're gonna do something and then you get it done and you feel so good about yourself. Yeah, every time you follow through, you strengthen trust with yourself. Every time you execute a task, you strengthen trust in yourself. But every time you postpone, then you keep postponing. Then you keep delaying, then you keep overthinking, you weaken that trust, and eventually, eventually you stop believing your own promises. Man, salute the box and the barbecue in the building. What's up what you brought? Salute to you? Did you hear what I said? Eventually you stop believing in your own promises? And this is the this is the ship that man. It's trouble man Tuesday, So the hell with it? Do you realize that you and I'm talking to you directly, you will make promises to people, and you don't even trust yourself. You don't even believe your own promises that you make to yourself. You make promises to people, and you don't keep promises to your motherfucking self. Your life is full of broken promises to yourself. And you have the asinine audacity to come out and make promises to other people, and you have broken promises to yourself. I don't make promises to people. I don't. Do you have a job. When you had that job, didn't you do an interview? When you had the interview, didn't you make some promises? Don't you gotta say? Don't you gotta stand on those promises? Every day? You gotta get your ass up, go there standing on those promises that you've made. Didn't you promise yourself you was gonna do something whatever it is for? Al Sniper said, oh oh, that motherfucker making sense. H oh, And it's thirty three minutes and eleven seconds, Man, I gotta get out of here. Yeah, don't you have a life full of broken promises to yourself? Didn't you say you was gonna do better? Then you say you was gonna get better. Didn't you say you was gonna stop doing this, You was gonna pick up that, you was gonna learn this, She was gonna learn that, she was gonna start that business. He's gonna lose that weight, he was gonna go get that woman. Didn't you say you was gonna don't? Don't you have a life full of broken promises? None of the great, said the unmitigated goll to not keep promises to my motherfucking self. Just the motherfucking is just invisible. But that's what she said, the unmitigated gall to not keep promises to my month the fucking self. But you promising shit to other people? Are you bullshit ting? Yeah? Yeah, Big Dad said I'm over here, ducky s wings Man, I'm punching on myself, bron, don't even do no trip, don't even do don't even trip. But I'm punching on myself. I'll sit out here and make promises. I got this knack for I got this knack and I was just talking about this. I got this knack for making other motherfucker's money. You understand what I'm saying, Like, I got this knack for people doing something, and I'm gonna get yall. I'm gonna help them get some money. I'm gonna help them be successful. You feel me, I got this knack for making other motherfucker's money. But I will not sit here and do the stuff that I know is going to generate the wealth that I am looking for, that is going to generate that I won't even say wealth, will generate the value that I needed to generate, right so that I can do this full time? Twenty four seven three sixty five. You feel me, I am putting together an offer for you that you can't refuse. You feel me so offer and of value to you and your life that you you can't refuse. You understand what I'm saying absolutely, And it's predicated on It's predicated on what I see Ab in the building. My little brother Ab was talking to Nella and he said, hey, Nolla, I sent you this transcript. I need you to whatever he said between them, he said, send that to you a script to my email. When you have a draft, I can review it. You know. YadA, YadA, YadA, YadA YadA. Now then told you to motherfuckers that y'all don't have to worry about how to contact each other and not attack each other, and so on and so forth. How you gotta do is take yourself over to the network where you can direct message each other, you can inbox each other, you can face face the face conversation without exchanging numbers or whatever the case may be, and you can have it all in this community. I'm putting together this value that you can't refuse because I'm tired of y'all coming in here, picking up these conversations here and then leaving this shit here? Are you bullshit team? You got. The gall the unmitigated God to make promises to other people and don't keep them to yourself. But that's bonkers to me. But we're gonna fix it. We're gonna fix what you gonna fix it. I'm just gonna help. She said, Uh. He said, yeah, whichever works. Whichever works. But that's my moral of the story is that's community. AB's like, hey, man, I'm doing this now. As I'm doing this, we're exchanging, bouncing ideas off each other, holding each other accountable of encouraging one another. That's what this is. Not just come in here to just get some some sauce and move on through your life. No, you come in in here to connect. Come in here to connect. My sister, Angie, why I said, go get that fly ass black coffee club cup. Its sleek, elegant and the image is top notch. I'm just saying, my sister ordered a couple of mugs. Man just on just blessing the game. I appreciate you, sus I do, I do, I do, I do, I do I do. Let me get back to this man so I can get out of here. You already got me. It's thirty seven minutes and seven minutes over when I said we was gonna stop. When you weaken that trust, it gets dangerous because you stop believing your own promises. And that's why execution matters so much, not just because of the result, but because of the relationship you build with yourself. When you execute, action tells your mind. I'm serious, think about that when you actually, hey, man, actions tell your mind now, I'm serious. Actions tell your identity who you are now I follow through. Actions tells your future. I'm moving forward like that's powerful. That's powerful. Let's make this shit practical so I can go You. Your ass is stuck right now, like I'm just finna tell you the truth. Salute the box and barbecue. I don't know if I seen you in here, homie, don't know if I spoke to you. Salute to you. Your ass is stuck like I'm finish. Just we ain't finna play no games no more, man, I'm taking what they said. The mustard is off the hot dog. You stuck. You feel me? Stop asking what else do I need to know? Stop asking what else do I need to know? And ask yourself, what's the next action? What's the next action? Not the whole plan, not the entire journey, The next action one phone call, one workout, one page, one page, one page, one proposal, one conversation, one step. That's it. Because action creates momentum. Momentum creates confidence. Confidence creates consistency, and consistency changes lives. But it all starts with movements. It all starts with movement. Man, let's close this out. Man, I gotta go. I ain't finna be playing with y'all no more. I'm out. If you want to holler me anymore, y'all want to continue this conversation, bring your ass over to the network you feel me www dot the Simpletruthnetwork dot com. Let's close this out because this conversation is simple, but it's important. You may not need another plan. You may not need another strategy, like you may not need another breakthrough. You may simply need to start. Because overthinking does not create results. Perfectionism does not create results. Fear does not create results. Execution creates results. Results are created through execution. That's it. So here's the question I want to leave you with, because I'm literally leaving. What have you been thinking about for months, maybe years? That would improve your life if you simply started? What have you been thinking about for months, maybe years that would improve your life? If you simply started, be honest, stop thinking, start moving around here. Man, we don't wait to be perfect. This is the Black Coffee Club man, we execute thank y'all so much for taking the time to tune in, really truly genuinely hold on. So let me stop to see Angie, my sister. She said, it's a long list. It's a long list. Because I asked, what have you been what have you been thinking about for months that would improve your life if you simply started, you said, it's a long list. It's a long list, right, It's a lot of stuff that we know that if we improve our life, or if we just started, we would improve our life. You understand what I'm saying. And this is the power. This is the power of us sitting down and talking and thinking about it and really being honest. You understand what I'm saying. Yeah, yeah, we gotta do that because I'm gonna raise you exhibit A and I'm gonna put you on front street because I love you. You said, I always earn a commitments to myself and others. Ha ha yeah ha. Ha ha, because we don't. I don't. I'm messed up. You understand what I'm saying. Not it's a long list. You feel me. You don't always honor commitments to yourself because we got a long list of shit that we know that we need to do in order to get better since and that's why it's hit the way it do, because it's a whole lot of shit that we gotta do in order to be for real. Like we gotta bite down like nobody like, man, man, I'm so messed up. I am so messed up. I am so. In this space of broken promises to myself. Man that it's just like damn And if I just start with one action, I can create the momentum that I need. And to have the confidence that I need. You feel me. But the thing that we have to do is everybody, like y'all gotta stop coming in here, because all yeah, because everybody do it. We come in here and we hide. You understand what I'm saying. We hide when we should be talking. We hide when we should be sharing, like you're sitting there trying to trying to cover up your scars when motherfucker's got the same scars, got the same scars, nah man. We hide when we should be talking, like y'all silent when you should be screaming. You feel me, nah man, Like we just be like, we gotta stop. I gotta go, man, I ain't doing this no more. Salute to you all. Thank y'all so much. Salute to my sister wire sports Beat, and I love you says and I appreciate you on my soul. I appreciate you.
